The Russians are coming

This looks very well equipped, lots of gadgets, only problem is the stoopid mirrors, but then is this an undercover development by ze Germans…

Big Griffin. That looks a nice piece of kit. Wonder if engine and electrics can match the cab. If they do can they get a 6 x 2 tag over here for a demo.

Looks like the Mercedes design team has defected

To be driven by…

Russians on superbly engineered Russian highways with other vodka swilling Russian drivers in sub zero temperatures.

What could possibly go wrong?

thats a nice lorry

Merc cab ?
Kamaz just reuse old cabs from other manufacturers

Only three things that matter and you can keep all the worthless shiny crap;

  1. Has it got a good turning circle?
  2. Has it got an engine brake that actually works?
  3. Will it flounder, searching for gears at roundabouts?

If it cannot do or not do any of these basic things then please don’t bother showing it to fleet buyers because they buy any old crap because it’s pretty and practicality doesn’t come into it.

One thing the Russians have been good at is simplifying things that don’t need to be complex.

IIRC In the early days of Space technology, the Americans spent millions trying to develop a pen that would work in
the zero gravity of space, whereas the Russians just used pencils that don’t rely on gravity to work.

So they might just have an Eatonski Twinski Shifti or a Fullerskinov gearbox & Jakeskinov braking
seeing as drivers are cheaper in the long run than Auto Boxes with steering attendants.

EDIT- I forgot the fleet buyer’s engine option: No Pull Skinov A Rice Puddinov

Daimler own a 15% stake in Kamaz

Super singles on drive axle? Too much electronics. Would you want a 3 year old one? :unamused:

Leibherr engines, apparently, and the cab is supplied by Merc, not a rip off. Presumably the electronics are all Merc too.

Leibherr also supplied (not sure if they still do) an engine to MAN.

Sorry Caryfast, I know you would have preferred a Detroit Diesel.

Oooohhh I don’t know. Given what Kamaz are normally famous for, one of these could very well be the thing for “Foot DownFriday”!!!

In reality a pencil presents a fire hazard and so the Russian space program sourced their pens from the same supplier in Houston as the americans.

The Russians aren’t going everywhere, these protoypes pop up every six months or so, not viable in any way. A pretty box containing nothing.
