Are they going to expect that you work towards DSA registration??
Fingers crossed eh.

Are they going to expect that you work towards DSA registration??
They were, but are scatching their heads on that one, as I explained my problem with the HPT - to be honest, as I am looking for the ‘second’ family job, I am OK to work P/T as relief etc providing I get a minimum 13 days PCM so that might be a way around the registration - I await…
ROG:
I await…
Here’s hoping…
Got a few pointers like ‘talk less’ and give as little info as poss but make it relevant as too much info can overload a trainee - me and my runaway gob
ROG - I found this when I did my training. I couldn’t listen & drive at the same time. It’s hard enough trying to figure out gears, lanes, directions etc without having the instructor saying you should have done this or that. (Not to mention stuff like - look at the bit’s on her ! )
Very off-putting !
Good luck mate.

Ever thought of training as a car driving instructor as something to fall back on when not instructing in LGVs ROG.cannot see depth into moving 3D hazards on a 2D screen - HPT

Hi Eddie Kendricks, WELCOME.
Have you noticed the little waving man in ROG’s signature??
I hope he’ll be doing this to his old boss pretty soon.
Hi Rog,
sorry to hear about your enforced change. Hope you get things sorted out.
Well, that looks like me out of instructing from 10 Sept 2009 unless I can get some work within the next year
Ive just been informed by the people at skillsforlogistics that I am ‘stuffed’
The criteria set down for instructing the DRIVER CPC module 3 (on-road training) requires me to have written proof of experience.
My 2 former LGV instructor employers will not do it and I cannot get details of former trainees as witnesses as their details come under DATA Protection.
Anyone any ideas
I may be missing something so this may be a stupid question, but if you have to have proof of previous experience of instructing, how will new instructors ever get started ?
Surely there has to be another way !
ROG:
I know this is not exactly the right forum for this but as most on here have contact with training schools, I think you will see why I put it here.I’ve been ‘stitched up’ at work - will not go into details as there is an appeal pending with the possibility of ACAS being involved but the jist is that I have been ‘sacked for gross misconduct’

which means that none of my unemployment insurances (or the dole for 6 weeks) will pay out

I deperately need a LGV instructor job within about 45 min commute of Leicester so if anyone got any info please let me know.
My back problem prevents me from doing a ‘normal’ LGV driving job and I have no experience in other fieldsThanks
EDIT - the ‘gross misconduct’ was concerning a vehicle and has nothing to do with any person.
Flippin eck Rog, you are one of the most helpful members on here.
You are a true credit to the profession and forum. I wish there was some way I could help you after seeing all the help you freely give to me and others on here.
Any news on a tribunal or anything to do with your former job?

Written attestation from Examiners/other trainers at Glos?
And I spoke to you once when you were training, as well as seeing you out on numerous occasions.

Thanks Ken - never thought of that

Thinking obliquely. You have pay slips. I trust you DO have pay slips? Then what else, as a training company, were they paying you for?
And at the commencement of any forthcoming hearing, they will be asked in what capacity you were employed between x date and y date, from which you can subsequently request a transcript.
In fact, might I suggest that their failure to provide written evidence of your employment during that period strengthens your claim. They are not being asked to comment on your competence (or lack of it ), just the position in which you were employed.
As regards Data Protection. A two-edged sword. You are being requested, by a competent organisation (and here I’m ignoring my feelings concerning SkillsForLogistics, etc ), to ‘evidence’ a competency trail.
Factually, you can apply for details pertaining to yourself. There may be a small fee involved, and they may remove the contact details and/or the names. of the individuals on each day, but they still have an obligation to disclose copies of any record pertaining to yourself. Including any assessment reports written by you and any fuel receipts signed by yourself. If they refuse, then a complaint goes to the Information Commissioner.
And then there are your co-instructors. Although I don’t have Les’s details to hand. It wouldn’t take me too many days to get it.

Flippin eck, why is it taking this long? Have you got a Solicitor and or a Union Official if you are in a Union.
