Not a viable option in my area as too many doing it already and I am not business minded.

Sorry to hear of that Rog,hope you find somewhere, have you thought of going down the NVQ line of instructing or asessing. This springs to mind because one of our young drivers class1 has just done his NVQ and i was speaking to the NVQ asessor last week. just before he gave the young driver his final asessment.

Classroom :open_mouth: :open_mouth: - no thanks :exclamation: - I’m an ‘out there and do it’ type but thank you for your suggestion.

Ever thought of qualifying as a car driving instructor as something to fall back on when not instructing in LGVs ROG.

cannot see depth into moving 3D hazards on a 2D screen - HPT :exclamation: :exclamation:

I know you’ve mentioned it before Rog, but has this a clinical name? I would of thought there’d be some way round the problem. Or even something that would help

They only use so many clips, if you knew what they were and when to click…

Not managed to find a clinical name for it and there is something that would help - for the DSA to recognise my ability to commentate on all hazards whilst driving for which I have certificates for.

Well, I’ve driven better - no nerves - enjoyed myself even during the role play but I wish I had a quiet half hour driving so that I could familiarise myself better with the vehicle before going into the demo. This was taken ihto account by the assessing instructor.

I do so hate those accelerator pedals on DAFs :exclamation: but in all fairness, it was OK when I finally settled with it and at 16.5 metres long, it was exactly the same as the last artic I was doing training in with the exception that the trailer was a tri-axle and my previous was a tandem - no great difference.

I was impressed with some of the off-test routes that were used for training - very tricky

Spent half the on road time doing demo driving and the other half instructing.

As I have never had any formal training, this was very educational as the instructor had been properly trained in the past. Got a few pointers like ‘talk less’ and give as little info as poss but make it relevant as too much info can overload a trainee - me and my runaway gob :exclamation: :exclamation: - I’m often going too much into detail which is what I do on an advanced drive - must remember that this is for basic DSA

Now to wait and see if I get to be interviewed by the Guv…

Good luck to you ROG, I hope it works out for you.
