Aye Bretts you must have taken this shot from the Copthorne , I stayed there one New Years Eve at a dinner dance & our room looked over to Bretts & in the night the reflection of their works looked like a ship on the waters of the Tyne, All great stuff M, do keep them rolling, I was chatting to a fellow just to-day Who claimed to have worked on the Tyne in a shipping firm, I thought when he said he had done this it would be good crack, Oh dear what a gob s///e he didn’t even remember Baxters, Jakey Adams, McPhees loading bacon etc, How sad can one get Eh, Regards Larry.

Aye Raines Delta works was it ? made railway lines of narrow gauge I believe for underground mining, Where has all the industry gone from the Tyne Eh, I can remember when there was a shortage of motors then, There was that much work about Drivers from the south could pick & choose their return load, Regards Larry.

Theres another oil firm comes to mind Hensal, The made a gear oil called Amber Gear Oil it was thicker than bloody tar, It was very good for worm drive diffs, I used it in the first Foden 8 wheeler I had, They were taken over by Goodall Bates & Todd, AKA , G B Lubricants Albany Rd Gateshead, Regards Larry.

Any one remember Allan in the yard, did’nt matter what time of day it was if you turned up he would go for a brake
aye thats the one larry , just along from freeways yard wellington road, used to do the fish plates aswell for the rail tracks.
