I wonder what will happen now with this thing with VW & Other German made vehicles on smoke emmisions, It could cause lots of problems for the shipping Cos that bring them into the Tyne, And f course the car transporter firms that haul them in the UK ■■, Regards Larry.

They do not even brew Brown Ale on the Tyne any more.

Hi Kev, I was down the coast today the river was very quiet, There was three ships anchored at sea viewable from Whitley Bay, The Royal Spirit appeared to be one of them, Regards Larry.

Correction World Spirit, Oh dear it must be the Chivas Regal Royal Salute I had after my evening meal getting me a bit confused    Regards Larry.

When I was kid in the late 40s, my dad used to take us for walk down the pier at South Shields. I remember we all used to get lifted up to see the little dolly in the wall of the lighthouse. Does anyone know if the dolly is still there, and why she was put there?
It’s intrigued me for years!!!

A couple to get ye back on page one.

Great photos Oily, I had a look along the River Tyne Today on the Quayside where Spillers was, As you know its been flatend quite some time ago, Its still railed off & nothing has replaced it, The Old St LawrenceCafe is still standing but looking very shabby boarded up, The Quayside is not a good looking place now, Its very sad tos ee it like this IMO, Regards Larry.

Tugs for & aft, Regards Larry.
