That has to be one of your more stupid comments in the present climate ambulances and doctors are hardly a luxury item and if a life can be saved by a nurse who has the capability to give first aid to someone who may otherwise die then the speeding is more than justified.
I was not talking about the present climate but even so it’s hardly likely a nurse will be sent to a patient who is critically ill or in need of urgent attention.

Laws can -
- Change.
- Be wrong.
Yup, 50mph on a s/c deemed dangerous and irresponsible at 2359 on a Sunday night, one minute later the limits change and it’s now safe and acceptable.
It is a shame we cannot change any laws - that prevent lawmakers from changing the WRONG laws!
…Chancellor Sunak might have been better to push for the following change to the law:
“Unsecured debts are now unenforceable in law, until the crisis has ended.”
THAT would make Banks fully unjam the “logjam” of their own making, getting that money to those it was intended for.
The alternative? The ENTIRE POPULATION runs their credit cards to the hilt - knowing they don’t ever have to pay it back again, because of that government edict I’ve suggested…
Don’t wait for another job or Universal Credit that gets forever kicked down the road…
Feed your starving families today with unsecured debt that doesn’t have to be paid back to the banks- because the government said so!

I bet you were a wheeze at school Jakey,.all rules obeyed homework always in on time, school uniform pristine, and a proverbial apple to the teacher.
‘‘Sir Sir that Robroy and his mates are breaking the school rules again’’.

Actually, no I was a bad lad at school. Took no interest and caused mayhem most of the time. Thankfully I grew up after my school days.

Just over two years ago at 2 in the morning my sister received a phone call from her son as he was preparing to hang himself, she busted every speed limit to cover the 15 miles from her house to his to try to save him, unfortunately she was to late and he died several days later. Tell me she was not justified in doing what she did, put yourself in the shoes of someone in that situation and tell me you wouldn’t do the same, because if you wouldn’t you must be lacking in any form of conscience. She lives in a rural area so no an ambulance wouldn’t have got there before her there are times when you have to say ■■■■ the rules and just do what is right
Just over 6 years ago…
On the night my father died in a Lincoln hospice, I broke every speed limit going to get there to see him one last time.
I made it just after 9pm, he died at 9.15pm.

There’s a few on here leave pathetic comments and never back them up.
Funny you should say that jakey. How about backing up your statement where you said there’s plenty of other ways to get goods in to shops other than lorries.
I could back that up no problem but you know as well as me these guys know what I am talking about so I ain’t wastiong my time.

Well here’s one ‘guy’ that doesn’t know what you’re talking about, so let’s have it from the horses mouth. At the moment you’re just one of those that you described,
you know, “leave pathetic comments and never back them up.” So how do these goods get to the shops with no lorries on the road?
Speed limits have always been targets and in the current climate we have some flexibility to crack on, quieter roads allow us to pull over if someone up our chuff wants to crack on a bit more.
56 on a clear single carriageway is not beyond the realms of appropriate imho.
Me I’ll push it to 53 and pull over if holding another truck back.
Must be some great fuel economy figures on the roads now.

As I said at the start of the thread the whole idea is pointless because it will never happen. But any problem can be solved one way or another . It may not be as efficient or effective but there would be away round it. I suspect the military would have a big hand to play along with many others who would be willing to adapt to help matters one way or another in a pandemic as bad as this one.
