The Olympics

This is why they no longer interest me.

100% agree

I think they should let them take all the drugs they want, if you go drag racing you don’t expect the cars to be running on a couple of gallons of Texaco unleaded.

Either allow drugs or lifetime bans would do Harry.

make them all take Ecstacy.
now i’d pay to see that.
but seriously, why ban them for life? none of us are squeaky clean.

that’s like banning some 16 year old snotty nosed, shell suite wearing, jeremy kyle watching scumbag from having kids for life, just because he got caught with a jamaican woodbine. he could grow up to be a pillar of society.

I might not have made myself entirely clear. We can either allow competitors to take drugs openly , or, have a no drugs rule and enforce it rigidly with life time bans for the cheats. I couldn’t give a ■■■■ about the Olympics as I don’t think there is enough of a deterrent at present to ensure all athletes are competing fairly and I don’t want to watch and wonder who is cheating.

I was watching it last time and there were a load of cheating gits who were using fibreglass springs instead of legs.

First things first. There hasnt been a decision on his or Millar’s cases at the courts yet.

Pillar of society… Sorry but he isnt! The issue with Chamber is the fact that he openly admitted SINCE his positive test that to be worlds best you have to take drugs. It doesnt send out the the right message to young kids coming into the sport.

This by law isnt a new law. It hasnt been brought in since he was banned. It was there previous to him being caught and as such it does smack a lot of “I want to do this, that or the other and then still not actually be punished for it!”
The whole Balco incident highlighted the need and importance of athletes to check what is in their supplements etc.
There has since been a few more incidences involving British athletes and supplements provides by ex worlds strongest man competitors who were acting in a “coach/mentor” capacity.

Now forgetting the whole, what physiological changes might have occurred during the time and the other people who were effected by him taking banned substances (some of which had to give up medals which they won fair and clean (i.e. relays etc)). Personally I would much rather see a young athlete coming through taking his place for the simple reason of he isnt going to push for medals. To be honest I would be shocked to see him even make the final on his timings compared to those that are world leading this year! Where as a youngest (yes they would go out in an earlier round but the experience would be of greater vaule!)
