The New Stralis

With all the posts at the top of the forum and all the tweets about how its changing peoples opinion of the brand, what would the masses like to see changed about the IVECO Stralis?.

I quite like the look of them but would like to see them offer a tag axle tractor unit, and bring back the old 17L V8, redesigned and up to date, 700bhp for under £100k.

The hi way suffers the same problem as the new XF and FH. They look too similar to the old model. I actually saw a hi way at Telford services today, I only kniw it was the new one because it had 2013 truck of the year scrawled across the sun strip.

The Actros/Arocs/Atego has the right idea, it looks different to the outgoing model. Even the launch colour is better. Thanks go to DAF & IVECO for somehow coming up with the same “new” colour. That orange is horrible.

Now we just need to see what Renault come up with, but at the moment my rating goes Merc for looks, MAN for comfort, Premium for cost. Volvo Iveco and DAF just dont appeal to me. (That could be because im going off a drivers view not that of the man that pays the fuel bills and thw workshop tabs though)

I am going to refrain from making personal comment as i wont see one/Drive one until next week, I will say that the feedback to T&D from drivers is that they have addressed many of the poor interior issues that drivers have raised over the old Stralis , the Stralis Hi-Way road show is ongoing at will be at Lymm and Rugby next week- and if your passing and able to take a look /drive yourself, you can make your own judgement if Iveco have moved onto to the next level-
all I will say is I havent tried it yet so dont know. - if you havent either , you have the opportunity if your passing to take a look, once you do you can pass judgement from experience not just hearsay
:sunglasses:

For it to be a quality product inside with a decent auto box, It could be a real good truck at that

I will say that i do not know of any manufacter that has taken their new truck - and made the effort and spent the money to show it to drivers in the UK before it is even officially launched (official launch is at the CV show in April)
and even more being open and want to hear good and bad what drivers think about it - for that alone Iveco should be commended,- at every road show a neutral observer from RTM s in place to hear the comments, its my turn next week at Lymm and Rugby- drop by and try it out, all your comments will be noted

What days and times will it be at Lymm and rugby

Lymm is March 11th 2pm-9pm, March 12th 6am -2pm
Rugby is March 13th 2pm-9pm March 14th 6am- 2pm

Stralis looks fugly, bring back the old 07/57 design with a modern touch…

See if you can get your goodie bag into any of the stupid narrow pointed cupboards. After giving up, challenge no,2 is this. Find somewhere to put a road atlas,no cheating!!, floor and screen space excluded. WARNING!! placing this item in the cupboard thingy above your head may render the driver to concussion when it falls out

Im probably gona call in at lymm to take a peek,I’ve been liking what I’ve seen on YouTube, had one on demo a couple of years ago,the all black thing. It broke down and they had to take it away on a lowloader from our yard lol. It never came back.

Atlasses are easy, bung em under the matress.

Well I saw it and sat in it at avonmouth lodge yesterday, now I am currently sat in a 62 plate while my new one is in the paint shop being sprayed, I must admit I was slightly disappointed, after seeing all the pics and vids on youtube ect , you would of thought Iveco would of sent over the top of the range flagship truck for everyone to see with all the leather seats ect, but no just really a bulk standard model, now this is coming from someone that really like the mark and have a new one on the way, all but the last of the old stralis designs.
I think they might of shot themselves in the foot but I will have to wait and see, yes the dash layout is good the switches look better, but silly things like the curtain rails are still the same and other small details which i would of thought should have been addressed have not and I told our local rep that today when he rang me up to ask what I thought,
if they where going to radically redo the cab inside, making it possible to fit a microwave would of seemed sensible thing to do as well.
at present my personal opinion is for the deal we have got on the old model against the price of the hi-way, what I have will do me very nicely thank you very much, I will just have to wait for 5 yrs and then see if they have done any more updates :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

I stand corrected, drove past I M Phillips at Forfar today ant there was a narrow cabbed stralis outside with the tag axle up, looked the same length of chassis as a 6x4 and with double wheels on the tag.

The curtain rail was one of my complaints, once a few years old the ‘high mileage’ curtain sliders (the ones that sllide the furthest) wear & drop out the rail, leaving gaps when you close them.

Only a small point but one that really did my head in over the years.

Probably could do with a bit of grease in the rail but sort of thing you only remember too late when they start pulling out the rail, I did manage to buy some replacement plastic hoopy things cheap, not from Iveco obviously, somewhere online but can’t remember what it was called.

I think it’s probably more ham fisted drivers pulling down as much as around, anyway, I’m in a Volvo XL 'trotter 460 now, some points are better but I wish it had an Iveco Curser 13 480 engine under the cab.

I would rather they send over a Stralis S than a Stralis Elite (using vauxhall spec!) at least that way you can think, things can only get better.

When I was in car sales, I used to fill my show room with S and Life models, then have a supply of higher spec ones outside for customers to look at. That way I could show them the basic model and say the next level up adds this then this etc. Its sales from a salesmans point of view, rather than a customers. It works.

I’ve just sat in the new one at lymm and the changes to the interior are not astounding and except the dash barley noticeable, I didn’t drive it so couldn’t comment, but got a goodie bag which was well worth my 20 minutes

Only ever driven the 540 we used to have in the yard and to say i had to check with the gaffer at the time to check someone was not having a laught with the badges as didnt pull as well as i would of expected for what it had under the cab .

Genreal feel for the old one was built to a budget and the motor for the boss man just like most stuff these days if looks good on paper it ill sell no matter if pile of junk or not , some niffty gadgets in the cab but most appeard to be well worn

i would put it on par with the renualt/daf cf /axor /TGA built to a budget and ok to do few nights away in .

easy to keep majority of drivers happy these days give them a lightbar as standard the dreamers will love them
