The new 30 pallet trailers are banned

I think you struggle to understand what you think youself sometimes Carry old bean so what chance have we. So what your saying is you’d sacrifice twenty grand because your scared of overhangs. Impressive. All fairly academic though since your bit a driver anymore. How many posts before you bring driving your Jag fast up?

In just the same way that I wouldn’t think twice about sacrificing 40k let alone 20k if the choice was between driving a 40 tonner with air brakes compared to one fitted with vacuum brakes.Too right I’m ‘scared’ of overhangs at least when they’ve reached the point where they become a liability and that’s just speaking now as a member of the public not a driver anymore. :open_mouth: :bulb: :unamused:

I’ve always found overhangs more of an issue on rigids than artics. I still check the mirrors on the n/s on almost all ghost islands when turning right even though in a lot of cases the overhang won’t be an issue.

By definition an artic makes tighter turns than a rigid which is why it’s an artic. So the tail sweep is actually more going through a turn. With the advantage of the rigid that you can actually see it in the mirrors unlike the tail sweep on a trailer. :bulb:

Carryfast:
Drivers moaning about driving the former fits that description of a diver moaning because the job means getting wet.

Oy George, that was my line :stuck_out_tongue:

I know but it’s the best analogy that I’ve ever seen that fits the point I’m trying to make. :smiling_imp:

From coop newhouse, apparently there was an accident involving someone’s tail swing

This is quite comical when you see the size of their shops and the size of those bloody rigids they use to deliver to them :stuck_out_tongue:

If you’re parked at the kerb and there’s a another vehicle parked about 6ft in front. An artic with a 13.6m trailer’s overhang will intrude less on to the pavement than a 28ft bodied rigid when pulling out.

Artics tend to close the road down when they take corners that produce a lot of tail swing where as rigid drivers won’t see the need when they commence the manoeuvre.

Oh god now he’ll go off on one with all sorts of mathimatical ■■■■■■■■ to back himself up

Oh dear, parked on the zig zags, blocking the crossing and obscuring the signal. Accident waiting to happen.

Looks like they’ll be banning their own trailers then 'cause I saw Trailer Express taking two brand new Gray and Adams fridges in there today.

That is why the picture was on the internet, it was on petrol ■■■■ heads or piston perversion or some such like.

He couldn’t see any zigzag, when he arrived, the road was covered in snow

You forgot facing oncoming traffic and he probably left the engine running.

Still it is great to see the shop staff are helping by clearing the paths

Didn’t think the topic was about 45 ft artic trailers.

Those sorts of drops are always picking the least worst option, where he is would probably actually have the lowest risk of injury to all concerned. The other choice is park legally and drag top heavy roll cages over uneven pavements with pedestrians doing their best to get in your way.

I got done once for being half on the zig-zags because a disabled badge holder had parked in the marked loading area and disappeared for over 2 hours. Little risk as the traffic was a city centre queue both directions that never got over 5mph.

i posted this last time the tailswing on these new trailers was mentioned, some of us already have to deal with an horrendous tailswing!

Err, didn’t he see the traffic light either!!!

Well tail swing does bother me, I have ripped out a gate and pulled down a wall outside a school, one problem is our sites are incredibly tight! A school or community centre normaly and it’s usually in the centre of a small village on the side of a mountain in Wales.

The truck I was driving on both occasions has a rear steer, or following axle and the entrances I had to get in and out of where narrow and leading onto a small road, problem with the artic is once that rear end gets out of view your guessing how close it is to the wall or gate.

I now always get out and look, or try and have someone competent there watching me in or out and not an idiot who stands somewhere you can see him.

I never have this problem on a ridged as you can see the swing.
