I’m think they built a massive gas pipeline from there to transport the liquified gas hence no tankers needed.
Didn’t think of gas! That makes total sense.

Very interesting thank you.
It was built by land and marine & nacap jv joint venture!
Land and marine now bought by murphy group.
Oil and gas are moved all over the UK by underground pipelines, and stored in strategic fuel stores, often owned or operated by the MoD. Airfields such as Heathrow, Gatwick, Brize Norton, etc., are all supplied directly from the system network.
I believe the main pipe network was recently privatised, which will help if we end up in conflict with the operator’s nation…
That would probably be the french as they own most of the UK !
I have been amazed to start to understand just how much stuff is moved around the UK underground. A transport system that I’ve never really paid any attention to or thought about. I guess unlike road, rail, sea and air it’s usually more or less invisible so it just becomes, for most people, one of those things you take for granted or don’t appreciate.
I agree it’s nuts this stuff is getting done by or belongs to France, Oz, anyone but the UK!
