The MIGHTY Volvo F7

How much were u asking for the roof rack and ladder?

Can’t remember if I’ve posted this before. Glyn John Transport

volvo f6:
I bought it from a collector in skipton, it was restored some years ago by a guy called colin pitt , but I do believe it was a training vehicle not sure who with ,that probably explains the gearbox problems lol
would be nice to know a little more about it if anybody knows anything.

Yes B607PNG is an ex Rheemco Blagden truck. It was based at Silverthorne Lane Bristol factory driven by Roly Miles from new then his nephew John Miles. It entered Truckfest late 80’s early 90’s where it won best working truck once I remember. It was cossetted from new and parked up in a heated warehouse I remember. I drove B611PNG. All the fleet had sea birds names. B607 was Albatross. After the F616 they bought Scanias and continued to show them at Truckfest.

Found this pic from a truckfest… yours will be one of those three I guarantee it either the nearest or the middle one because the far one was my mates Bob Thomas (Sandpiper). You will note the fleet had black chassis with green sunvisors.

Heres Bobs truck B609PNG Sandpiper…

Blagden experimented with this colour scheme for a while before reverting back to blue. Note the name Rheemco changed to Blagden Packaging. The transport was run from Bristol but I was based at Trafford Park factory. Pics taken in 1989.

!

Thanks for the pics I’ve only just seen them, I think mines the one in the middle because the other two have blue curb mirrors mines black and original , I think as a fitting tribute I’m going to put the albatross name back on, thanks again for the history it’s much appreciated. It’s made my day knowing it’s an original tractor unit I thought it had been cut down, is rheemco blagden still operating?

Your f7 is looking good even in the snow, do you use it for work or is it just a show truck?

You’re welcome… Sadly Blagden Packaging is no more I left in 1996 and I believe it was bought out by a company called Greif in 2006. The Trafford Park factory was demolished only last year. End of an era… very sad had a lot of happy times there.

The three trucks in that photo were B605PNG, driven by Dave King, B607PNG driven by John Miles and B609PNG driven by Bob Thomas.

As I said before they moved onto Scanias in 1990/91 and continued to show them at Truckfest

Another trusty F7 on for a well known Norfolk Haulier. Are Foulger’s still going? Regards Chris

So did Renault/Saviem,still not an F7 though is it.

I showed my volvo f6 at gaydon , I met Roy miles he was quite taken back when he saw b607 Png he’s sent me some photos when she was new , I told him that I’d been chatting to you , but I didn’t know your name , it’s brilliant knowing all this history , and now it will hopefully stay with the truck forever.
