Its back. Just north of J13 on the inside lane of the southbound carriageway.
It was there a week or two ago and had damaged several cars, all parked up on the hard shoulder.
It was there again this morning and had six or seven lorries on the hard shoulder.
How big is this pothole? Can imagine them damaging cars, especially low profile tyres, but would have thought trucks would be more resilient.
Have noticed a lot of potholes on the M1 recently where its been resurfaced into 4 lanes vs the bits where the tarmac is older and untouched. Then again, there’s a lot of other problems like tramlines and bumps on those. Cheapo tarmac?
It’s deep and you hit it at 56. I think that was the issue. I’ve never seen the likes of it before.

There’s a lovely sink hole under the bridge M1 nth, jcn13 mile marker, that soon throws ya coffee away. Been there for 3+ months.
M11 Northbound around 5 miles after joining from M25 in lane 1. (about 2 weeks ago)
Makes you feel like you’ve just hit an ejector button. It maybe gone now but it was the worst one I’ve ever felt on the motorway.
Back to the M25, just as you approach the Cobham services in lane 1 clockwise. There’s a ridge where they’ve joined 2 road services. Caught me out the first time, I always make sure I’m in lane 2 for that bit. I’ve seen drivers going over it, as I’m going counter-clockwise and their whole cab bobbles about. It’s pretty mean.

Yep. I do the same every day. Takes some planning when there’s a lot of traffic.
Makes you wonder if engineers ever check roads when they’re finished.

Doubt highways lot ever go near it. Not helped that most minor roadworks such as resurfacing are done overnight and have to be finished by X time, always in a rush.
Theres what sounds like a similar sinkhole to the J13 one on the M1 by Tibshelf Services (north of J28). Been there for at least 3 years and never gets any better or worse oddly. Not great for the coffee.
Is there a reporting site these days for potholes etc? Or do you have to go through all the complexities of council web sites oy to have them say “its not bad enough” then repair it 3 weeks later?
There’s a blinder on M11 sth, just near Laughton in lane 1, hit that at 56, everything goes BANG, coffee everywhere.
Found 2 last night on A14. Theres a triple nasty one just after the M1 interchange going east in lane 1 which rattled the hell out of the truck, and I think one near J8 going west (pretty sure its near Rothwell).
Wouldn’t want to hit either with a car.
Could see a few more on M1 starting where they’ve patched the road. Obviously doing it on the cheap now (materials wise). Bigger one starting near Rugby junction going south before A14.
Off the motorways, if anyone wants to test their car suspension - try the A617 near Rainworth / Mansfield in Nottinghamshire (A38 > A614). That should be used as a test track for new cars as it has more potholes than good bits of road!
Sounds like just another day in an Actros

That particular stretch of the m1 runs over a host of old pit workings all the way up to j 30 . Many years ago there was a huge ramp in the carriageway for some time and there could be others at any time if and when the old workings collapse . There is always a row over who pays for the repairs .

Tell me about it . It’s the one under the bridge just before the slip ramp into Tibshelf? Looks innocent enough but it’s like driving off a kerb when you go over it. Lane 1 of the M62 exit at J42 is another rollercoaster ride as you go over those 2 road bridges. You definitely don’t want to be holding your coffee as you go over either of them
.
Whenever I hit the one by J20 M25 anti-clockwise I was always shocked and indignant.
Best one by far that I’ve hit was when they were replacing the barrier J58-61 on the A1 a couple of years back. They’d moved the carriageway over to the hard shoulder but forgot to level the tarmac from the sliproad/hardshoulder ‘V’. It was a clear 9" drop in the Highways feedback we got after I caught air and nearly ending up in the verge. Funny thing was I saw everyone moving over and wondered what they were doing, right before I smacked my head on the top locker.
I posted about it 2 years ago on here, absolutely mental was that drop.
