The last few weeks in pictures

A few pics from the last couple of weeks, random and in no particular order…

A sad retirement for this 143-400,reduced to shunting at Mory-Europa,Vilvoorde.

I think there’s a law in Holland that everyone has to own a caravan,at least it
seems that way at this time of year. But you’d have to be vertically challenged to sleep
in this one.Or stick your feet out of the window!

Had to unload one pallet in Epse,Holland a couple of weeks ago…

…turned out to be a private house in a rather exclusive and somewhat narrow road.

This Dane was parked on the side of the A86,Paris,with a special trailer for transporting
large flanges.

And this is as close as I’ve ever been to this tower.
And no,it’s not Blackpool!

Unloading fruit juice in Lyon.

Saw this Jempsons MAN near Nantua.I did’nt even realise they were still going.

Loading 66 new plastic fruit boxes in Nurieaux, all of 4 tons

Which I then unloaded in Meeffe,Belgium.

Didn’t they used to be a brand of cigarettes?

I know I’ve posted pics of this before, but the old DDR border at Marienborn/Helmstedt still amazes me.

And how ‘Checkpoint Alpha’ used to look during the Cold War.

Tipped in Berlin, and passing the old ‘Checkpoint Bravo’ border crossing.

And how it used to look. Not much changed, apart from freedom.

This week I loaded at the huge GE Alsthom factory in Belfort, which, apart from making trains, they also make turbine generators.
I loaded some cases that were destined for a project in Turkmenistan, but I only had to take them to Antwerp.

Unloading in Antwerp docks.

This guy was unloading a case a bit bigger.A lot bigger!

The French countryside, but it’s back to Germany next week.

Lucky you,I never get time to explore anywhere now.
Berlin has always fascinated me,more so just after the wall came down,it was like being in two different worlds.

Enjoy yourself, and don’t get into any trouble

ellies dad:
How’s your new Merc goin ?

Very well thank you,I never thought I’d say it,but it’s a lovely motor!

Jempsons still going…they were struggling last time i was in there but hed just ordered 80 new MAN 440 tgxxxl(i think??) and was chasing a new contract

I know what you mean about Helmstadt. There always appears to be ghosts there when I park. I love the old East, even with the reunification the place is different.

Favourite City = Berlin then Paris.

Great Pictures again Keith

KW:

Tipped in Berlin, and passing the old ‘Checkpoint Bravo’ border crossing.

The slip road off the services on the right used to be THE place to hitch out of West Berlin.
There would invariably be about 20 - 30 bods trying for a lift but you never had to wait long as the West Germans saw it as their duty to pick up a hitcher and transport them across and out of the nasty commie block.
Only thing was, you had to be certain of the driver’s destination before climbing aboard, as there were only 2 routes available to vehicles exiting West Berlin at this border crossing: the A2 to Helmstedt or the A9 to Hirschberg.
Hop the wrong ride and there was no going back or stopping until you got to the border to reenter West Germany
