The last DCPC thread

Well unless I have got it wrong, after this week we are all officially …Professionally Competent drivers :sunglasses:
No more will we see ■■■■ whits driving trucks, no longer will we have to endure bad driving techniques by our fellow truckers, such as the old favourite chestnuts like pulling out of junctions, or being kept out in the middle lane, …because you are now letting out a fellow Professionally Competent driver. Not forgetting the guys that we all used to love, …that do not need to be flashed in …because they “Know EXACTLY where the back of their trailer is” (each time they just miss your mirrors and windscreen) EVEN THEY are also Professionally Competent now. :open_mouth:
It will be wonderful, the public are going to look on us as heroes of the road, keeping their supplies in the shops, we are now a valuable asset. We are going back to the time when we treated each other with empathy and respect, so no more tailgating to make each other go faster, or coffee shaking hand signals. All blissfully Professionally Competent and content at last.
So now members on here like Conor and his disciples, that over the years have drip fed us the benefits (at every bloody opportunity :unamused: ) of the DCPC, telling us it is the panacea for all negativity towards transport, are now going to be vindicated, …as now we all know how to get out of our cabs properly, lift without bending our backs, do first aid, recite the Driving hour regulations like a Buddhist Mantra, and all the other invaluable knowledge that we have willingly paid through the nose for.
So in an attempt to make this the last DCPC thread, and to shut up people on here like Conor and his sycophantic praise for this b/s, heres to the next 5years of Professionally Competent trucking. Enjoy it.

If I could borrow an old, traditional Scottish answer

Aye, right! :unamused:

As joe public hasn’t got an fn clue about speeds we are limited to, the area we need to turn, and the room we need on roundabouts amongst other things, I would say the majority have never even heard of the DCPC.

lol, who ‘needs’ to be flashed in?

Already told you mate, mostly those that make a point of telling you that they DON’T, the same ones that also tell you they have never had an overtaking related accident, but if they bothered to use their mirrors would see hundreds :bulb: ie. near misses caused by them.
To take it further the real drivers that leave enough space whether flashed or not are the ones that do not actually need it, aka real Professionally competent drivers.
Let’s not turn it into another boring “flashing in” thread eh.

Ah, ok, so you don’t, because you’re a real driver. I’m beginning to like you.

I would DEFINITELY make eye contact with you in an RDC waiting room.

What the DCPC has forgotten to do, is to train container drivers where there headlight flasher switch is and also the drivers of XF105’s that we normal drivers don’t look at the top of cabs for our flash in. Just flash your headlights fgs

I wasn’t aware that it was a legal requirement to flash in? :open_mouth:

I really should brush up on my highway code. :unamused:

I was being pedantic.

Let’s leave the flashing in thing to another thread. I think some of you have missed the point that I attempted to make ie. How is learning to be a WTD specialist, or a fork lift course for example making me anything more than a flt driver who understands POA .
First aid is spot on if I wanted to be a paramedic, but again if I can put a broken arm in a sling am I now a Professionally Competent DRIVER.
If the true agenda genuinely was to make us a PC “DRIVERS” why not a periodic DRIVING ability test every 5 years, theory and practical ( with an EU driving hours refresher thrown in) concentrating on eradicating all of the bad practices that have evolved over the years including ones used as an eg. in my o/p. Maybe then the CPC would have been worthwhile and would have succeeded in cleaning up the image of the industry, thus illustrating to anybody who is interested that professionalism amongst HGV drivers actually did exist…job done.
To sum up if Mr & Mrs Blogs are being followed by a 44 tonner at 35mph, on their way back from collecting their pension, would they be happier with him sat agressively on their back bumper knowing the driver understands his EU regs and WTD, or him sat tucked back in a professional manner as he understood it was bad practice and unprofessional to tailgate :bulb:

Good post. Enjoyed it. I didn’t realise the swerving in just in front of me were attempts to prove a point, but yeah it makes sense. I just thought these guys were a bit incompetent and DIDN’T know where the back of their trailer was.

Yeh, I meant when ever the flash in thing comes up on here, we invariably get Mr Smartarse who says I don’t need it as I know exactly…etc etc :unamused: as if they are superior to the rest of us, but actually ignorant of the fact that we all know the etc etc bit, but are professional enough not to invade the space of the vehicle we are passing.
