I had the pleasure of meeting Colin at Peterborough, he is a genuine man whose only wish is to give his family something to remember him by as he knows his own time is short… we cant make difference to the hand Life has dealt Colin, but we can make a difference to him and his family. this is one of our own can you help make this happen ?

Will be sending a postal order this weekend :bulb:

How much do you need?

mrx:
How much do you need?

Hi mrx my wife and 14 friends & family are doing a sponsored skydive & with other with other events planned which will leave us if we are lucky £3000 short,no matter how many holiday companies we go to they all come in around £6000 to £7000,I know its a lot of money buy the smiles on my kids faces will be priceless

Colin… to make this work you need to be able to take donations on-line- look into a paypal account- I am sure many people here would donate on reading if they could do it there and then, but many even with the best of intentions may not actaully get round to sending a cheque

Hi Colin seen and noted and will do what I can

I am deeply moved by the OP and would like to help. As a company, we will reduce our full course price by £100 to the next 20 candidates (see below) raising £2000 for the Fund. This is how it works:

Applies to new candidates only
Must mention TNUK and The Ketteringham Holiday of a Lifetime Fund when booking
Suppy us with a cheque or PO value £100 payable to the fund which we will forward
Pay our normal deposit/balance in accordance with our normal trading terms and conditions

In addition to this, I personally will add £50 to each £100 collected in this way. This gives the potential of raising £3000!

Please, no pm’s regarding bookings. Please use office phone and email. 01623 620062 info@truckdrivertraining.co.uk

Hope this helps in some way, Pete

Can I suggest you set up a Just Giving web page…details can be found here

I agree, there is also a 25% donation paid on whatever is made by the doner (by the government) if the doner is a tax payer

I lost a very good friend to this condition a few years ago; Colin, I will do what I can to help (not much in the grand scheme of things but if many of us do it will be more).

Hi everyone, first of all thank you so much for all your support.
The Bourne Lions have set up the fund, and they don’t use just giving, but I will look into set one up with the same fund name.
Thanks for your help & support
Yours sincerely
Colin Ketteringham

I’m so Skint right now! But as soon as I can I’ll be making a donation to your fund Colin! And I hope you have the most memorable time with your family!

I hope everyone here donates at least an hours pay! :sunglasses:

There is no requirement for anyone to do anything, I am sure that Colin himself will value the thoughts from those who cannot help out financialy.

It has taken a lot for Colin to come here and ask for this help. He is a very proud man. He has taken this step to give his family something, not for himself .

There are some discussions going on behind the scenes that may move this forward a bit, but we will still be a long way short of making this happen without the £1’s or £5’s from fellow drivers.

The price of a couple pints from just some of the members here can make the difference - please think hard and deep if you can help and if at this time it is not possible a simple note of support on here will let the whole family know they are not alone.

Colin,
Do you have the sort code and account number of the Lions bank account, my bank, via ‘telebanking’ required this before being able to transfer any funds.
Best Regards
Ray

I had a long chat with Colin on the phone yesterday and following that we had an online meeting of the PDF Trustees to try and work out the best way to help Colin, his wife and family to achieve their dream, but also to care for them long term as well.

This decision was a hard one to make but we have decided to make an initial donation to the fund of £500 from the Professional Drivers Foundation, but have pledged to give Colin’s wife and children ongoing support both financially and advisory, through the difficult times ahead for them.

The fund for the trip is gaining support and publicity, but inevitably there will be hard times to come when the dream is achieved, and this is when the PDF can, and will, step in to provide any help we can to make those times easier, and worry free, if at all possible.

Colin, like many others, understands the need for families to be looked after as well and as with so many we have contact with, was touched that so many of his fellow drivers cared so much, as is demonstrated on PDF forums, LDF forums and of course on Trucknet.

Colin is happy to allow us to post this, which is something we are usually unable to do, but it has made an opportunity for those who worked and donated so hard and so much at Cannock, as well as Steve’s two Half Marathons this year, to see the type of work we do and the PDF in action.

I shouldn’t add this to an official statement really but…Bugger, I am proud of you lot

Pat

Is there a link to the fund I can share from Bourne Lions Club?

I cannot donate money, but I have plenty of time available, and websites running throughout the country

Colin

You are so welcome but the donation is not so much made by us, but all the drivers on the various forums who care.

We just try and do as best we an to dish it out fairly, and as I said to you yesterday, you shouldn’t feel any shame at asking, because it makes us all feel good being able to help.

Let us know those bank details so we can get this paid asap!
