THE ITALIAN JOB- in a low ride XL

Facinating read! Well worth the effort OP as its entertaining folk after all those years.
Thanks JD for bumping this thread to the top.
I did wonder myself about the break times at first  .

Well done!

just re read this and it is excellent.

Thanks Alex, you still at FL ?
It is a while since i have been on this forum, so i was shocked to get an email notification about my last trip in a wagon nearly 4 1/2 years ago!!
I have worked on the buses at Arriva Yorkshire in Wakefield since that trip, i would love to get back into trucks but i am better off financially at the moment were i am. One day i hope to be back.
Is spliting your break a no-no now then?
It is nice to see that Brian Yeardley is still going, i still have a glance up the yard every time i go past, and to see who is driving Asda and BY motors when i pass!
I would like to wish everyone i know at Asda, BY and all at Trucknet a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I am off to Perth,Western Austraila on the 27th December for 3 weeks :grimacing:
Glad you all enjoyed it :sunglasses:

Nice. I will stop looking at FL trucks then!
Have you been back to Asda?, i hear there have been a few changes!

Great diary, Jon. I came off the road 2 years ago so I could see my 2 kids grow up. Reading this reminds me how much I used to enjoy doing euro work an how much i miss it :frowning: Still only 15 years to go and I can go back to it, if we still have an industry then

i havent been in there for a couple of years now i’d try to avoid it now cos il have to redo a induction and i cant cope with that as well as the dcpc.

good post, and excellent read, i worked for brian yeardley some 14 years ago now, it was the first time i drove a left ■■■■■■, all the globetrotters were geartronics, it was back then that brian decided to buy some new fh’s but not in the famous red and white, these were in blue and yellow, i hadone of them and they did look quite stunning, but rumour had it that brian was owed alot of money, so unfortunatley the trucks had to go back to volvo at hull, shame really

Thanks Pirate.
I gave up Euro coach work when my eldest lad was about 6, he told me “dont tell me what to do, your never here”!!. I did one more tour and jacked.
That euro job was a one off for BY, they just needed someone who could do Italy without being babysat ! Lol
When my eldest lad finishes college i hope to return to the trucks, but jobs look thin on the ground for the foreseable !
Enjoy your time at home with your kids, they have been the most pleasurable years for me.
Jon
