i only lived there for 2 years 1981-2 on new barn road
my nickname at longfield middle was yorkie
i took a empty coach up there a few years ago coming back from dover not a lot has changed.
i must admit apart from west yorkshire that is only other place i enjoyed living
we moved to sheffield from longfield with my dads job, what a dump,so escaped back up to leeds

Good read John

Looks like the Brian Yeardley fleet is a bit newer these days than a few years ago!

I always wondered where the names came from - now I know.

Nice read Jon Boy.

I have a couple of questions (OK you can all extract the urine from the non-driver now)
Whats the story with the Suzies and why is the truck sitting so low
Is it cause the trailer is low  Double decker

Cheers

Drew

the suzies provide air electics etc to the trailer and are normally mounted on the back of the cab,but ares are mounted underneath at the end of the chassis because the trailer is very close to the back of the unit
it is so low because it needs to under the 4 metre hight limit for most european countrys, and still hold a high cube load, the trailer is full to the roof on the return journey ,it has full air suspension that can lift it all up to get over rough terrain eg boarding the ferrys ,and in are yard
hope this helps
jon
ps im off on my jollies now see you all soon

top read fella

I remember some services northbound around the Brenner I stopped at on the way back to Zwolle from Monza, the view out of the window in the cafe was so absolutely magnificent, I honestly think I should have been charged £20 to look at it!
Great read mate and I’m getting itchy feet again myself. Time to look for some driving over there I think…

jon boy 100:
have to stop just outside of one for my last 15 mins.

jon boy 100:
I take 30 mins break here and save the other 15 till my hours are up

aren’t those 15+15+15 or 30+15 breaks going to get expensive?
