if mussels , cockles , whelks and winkles are on a par with ■■■ norman , you’ve definitely been doing it wrong
Well I don’t think so Dave, I have tasted both, I think you skirt around sea food.
If ever Tubby’s stall was closed Norman and you liked the smell of fish you could always walk across Aldgate in to The Red Lion and sit close to one of their strippers.

hiya,
Me having led a sheltered and blameless life wouldn’t know these things,
now Norm’s a different kettle of “fish” he is worldly wise and no doubt
will have frequented the afore mentioned establishment on many occasions.

Well Ang I’ll vouch for you on that one, I once got “blamed and sacked”
for backing one lorry into another doing quite a bit of damage, I had
been in a nearby pub for a couple of hours and the guvnor had got the
wrong story after he grovelled an apology to me, I told him to stuff the
job and started for a new firm next day, try doing that nowadays.

hiya,
From Lancaster to Bacup via Liverpool (Bootle) over to Darwen last stop Chester le Street 40 years ago looks like my panto part would be me taking the part of a Gypsy all the moving I’ve done Oh’ and a bit of my time in the Bacup area was at Britannia where my Dad and Mam owned the chippy. Some of my schoolmate’s Dad’s where part of the “Nutters” dance group, not for me though didn’t like the skirt and didn’t have the legs.
thanks harry, long retired.
Well there you go Harry, a fine connoisseur of fish like yourself would have no need to visit The Red Lion in Aldgate.
Of course the fascination of a place like that on a young lad like I were at the time was that little blue bag of free salt that you got in every bag of Smiths Crisps that they sold in there.
I haven’t come across anything about The Brittania Chippy but there is a snap of Brittania Station on here at 3min 15 secs that you might like to see. If you have seen it before then sorry if you haven’t then I hope you enjoy it, I did.

it never changes and although the railway is long gone I do remember the “passion trains”
to Blackpool great fun in my youth, happy memories.
thanks harry, long retired.

hiya,
The train trips came later I think I would have been nearly fifteen and i was
“molested” by a sixteen years old farmers daughter, why didn’t I cry ■■■■ I
hear you ask me being a minor and all that, because I enjoyed it and hoped I
might have got repeat performance which never materialised, I guess I must
have been rubbish at it and for her once was plenty.
thanks harry, long retired.

I think I’ll steer clear just in case there was any offspring as a result from my
moment of madness/■■■■ sixty one years ago can’t afford the maintainence

Seems like you could have had a lucky escape Harry.Working on a farm back in those days was hard work and out in all weathers, whatever the rewards might have been at the end of the day.
Cheers Dave.
