Anyone back from Stonehenge yet ? I see there was 32,000 hippies and druids and retired lorry drivers there. :unamused:
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Didn’t make it very far since last Thursday have been really out of sorts had all the
sympton’s of flu but obviously it wasn’t, being dragged to the doc’s annually for the
anti-flu jab and it not being due for a few months yet must have been some sort of
modern day unpronounceable ailment which should maybe have been dosed with a
course of antibiotics, that being the normal cure-all administered every time the
GP is visited, have visited the computer several times during my “down time” but I
haven’t felt like saying very much, (who cheered) although I’m up to date with other
peoples views, I found it did work in the bedroom where I was stuck for far longer
than I care to, I also missed “the do in the Toon” which I always try to get to, but I
now feel much better and I’m going to attempt the school run later.
thanks harry, long retired.

The knacker mans number is–now where is it I had it a moment ago    Sorry to hear you’ve been under the weather “H” but it looks like your up and “running” again, new set of plugs and points eh!,smooth as silk,or should that be a “Bears Arse” Cheers Dennis.

hiya,
Still a bit “bears arseish”, but the school run beckons, so I’ll just have to grin and bear it,
two schools to do one 200yds away the other two mile round trip a jam jar job for that
the old “liggy’s” don’t work as well as in days of yore and if I set off on foot it would take
me forever, er um’ Dennis you’re not hiring are you ■■.
thanks harry, long retired

When can you start “H”,tomorrow ? we’ve a few Scania 81’s loaded for London, don’t seem to able to get drivers  I just bet that if you were fit and able “H” you’d be into the cab and off down the road for one last time,Scania 81 or no  Cheers Dennis.

Good to hear your feeling better “H” your absence was felt on Saturday, quite a few lads wondered where you were. Regards Kev.

Get some Guinness original down your neck Harry, will give you strength, iron in the stuff.
Cheers Dave.

Possibly blood in your alcohol stream Harry! All that single malt has to go somewhere besides down the porcelain. Now if you just had a little ‘snifter’ now and again it would ward off those flu like symptoms, but you lads overdo it and the benefit is then lost as your body accepts it as normal to be drowned in booze on a daily basis! :unamused: Just leave off of it for a few weeks, Larry will look after it for you to make sure it doesn’t go off and I guarantee that in a month or so you will be back to normal and will be thanking me for all this, totally free, medical advice. A nice mug of Horlicks at bedtime will do you good as well. Sweet dreams…

Pete.

:open_mouth: Is that a joke Pete? If it is we can do without things like that thank you, Harry is an old man and frightening him with talk of Horlicks at bedtime is well out of order…
what he DOES need is Nurse Sandie tucking him into bed and leaving a bottle of malt within easy reach. :stuck_out_tongue:

hiya,
Well at last someone with a proper chain of thinking, thank you and if ever you’re
in my part of the world call in for a swig from my single malt stockpile.
thanks harry, long retired.

Well Horlicks is malted Harry and a lot cheaper than your single malt, though I guess that you don’t actually buy yours yourself what with being a ‘poor’ pensioner and all such sob stories that you ‘oldies’ tell us youngsters? :unamused: My Mrs has Horlicks every night and goes out like a light so it certainly works for her, cant stand the stuff myself though and have a mug of tea at bedtime instead! If you want to get that telegram from ‘Her Majesty’ in a couple of years or so then you need to start looking after yourself, give your poor old Liver a chance!

hiya,
Pete the only way I’ll reach the ton is behind the wheel of my rather nippy Toyota,
and when on the motorway with no jam sandwich in sight I do on the odd occasion
stray into the 100mph sector of the “clock” just to blow the cobwebs out of the old
girl you understand, well I don’t use the car much these days preferring to let the
bus take the strain well it costs nowt and zero fuel and parking fees to find, Oh’ I
only give the car “the whip” when alone the Missus makes me stick to the speed
limit and doesn’t care for me speeding so when she’s aboard it’s steady as she goes.
thanks harry, long retired

Bit different from mine Harry, the daft old bat only knows two speeds, flat out or stop. :open_mouth: She terrifies me when, on the rare occasion she drives and I’m in the car and she gets the bit between her teeth.
And as I’ve got my card marked for another new knee on Aug. 26th, she’ll be driving me around.
I’m frightened lads but there’s nowt I can do about it.

hiya,
I once many years ago bought a Morris 1000 from a vicar of all people it had belonged to his
daughter who had departed the vicarage for university ( he assured me the car had never
been sworn at ) on driving the motor back home I found the car very sluggish with very poor
acceleration but it being a Moggie I wasn’t expecting neck snapping performance but this was
very below average, so I gives the old vicar a ring and asked him if he had any idea as to why
the motor was running so below par, he explained that his daughter was known to put “the
hammer down”, ( with a moggie I ask you ) so he’d got a mechanic pal of his to “cut it down”
a bit so the guy had jetted the carb down a shade and the vicar told me if I returned to his
place he had the original jets in his study, got the jets, popped them in and hey presto the
old girl was low flying again, I could have understood his actions if she’d been driving a more
sporty job, some over cautious dads Eh’, I hope the Missus doesn’t read this or she might get
ideas and I’ll be finding the school run lasting all day.
thanks harry, long retired.

Those ‘Moggies’ fitted with the 1098 cc engine would shift a bit though Harry, we had a pickup with one and you could get the valves bouncing at 60 mph in third gear and the engine sort of went quiet and the vehicle slowed at that point! A great little truck, however it struggled to pull a BMC FFK 140 which had broken down (empty) and was swapped for an Austin Gypsy for towing duties. It was relegated to the workshop hack then.

Pete.

You had to do a fair deal of planning when deciding to brake with those moggies. I had one once, it certainly got a bit “exciting” at times trying to stop it. :open_mouth:

I had this A35 Van in 1966 with a 1098 engine Pete, it was a great little van which was immaculate when I bought it, and still good when I sold it just over two years later and bought a Ford Anglia 105E which wouldn’t pull your granny off the ■■■■■■■■

hiya,
I did quite a few repairs on the 105E series, suspension coming through the boot floor and they
was notorious for rotting fuel tanks bit of weekend work when I wasn’t down the road, and in
those days I had quite a big workshop and welding gear and a pal in a Ford agents stores and
with my old man having once been in the trade had a fair bit of knowhow on the tools.

My Dad had a new Anglia 105E in 1960 Harry, which went well, but the one I bought which was a 1964 model was flat with no go at all in it. I changed it for a Mark 2 Cortina with a 1500 engine after 10 months. The Cortina was an excellent car, pre crossflow.
Cheers Dave.

Hello Harry. I am a bit slow joining the club, but “a bit slow” describes me perfectly. I hope you are feeling better and disregarding the foolish advice certain characters are trying to have you heed. I was brought up by the river Spey and the Highlanders know what to do with fresh water and it isn’t what they dangle in it in Matlock Baths! All the very best. Jim
