hiya,
Norm house insurance have it coming out of my ears, but when trying to claim for
one of my earlier computers that was damaged due to being shorted out when my
granddaughter tripped over the charging cable, the hassle I had was unbelievable
get a report and a quote from a reputable repairer as to the cost of repairs, I did
and waited and waited got fed up of waiting whizzed it in the bin and bought new
instead of waiting any longer about another three months they made some silly
offer on the original price of the computer and in my own inimitable manner I told
them to “go away” that was the only time I’ve ever made a claim and got nowt’ did
change my broker from the Halifax to them with the black horse there and then.
thanks harry, long retired.

Cheers Dave.

Never ever made a claim on our home insurance, if things get damaged we just chuck them away and buy new putting it down to clumsiness. Sister in Law however claims for cigarette burns in her carpet, ornaments getting dropped, non existent ‘mishaps’ on things she hasn’t even got so I guess she makes up for us? We even have health insurance but we haven’t used that either, despite all the wife’s time in hospital etc, maybe we should start getting some of it back? Did claim for the dogs operation though, that saved £600!
Pete.
Never claimed much off the house insurance, until last winter. A lot of frost damage to the eaves where the roof tiles are bedded on, and this winter a burst pipe. Quite glad I had adequate insurance cover.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
With me its just the process, fill this in, what’s this ? what’s that ? I just cut my losses
and go and buy new, I’m aware that one day I might just need to see a claim through
to it’s conclusion so I do keep my buildings and contents insurance up to date its the
paperwork I can’t be doing with, I remember a shed break in some time ago quite a
bit of stuff got nicked among the tools was a compressor which although like new I
hadn’t used for years to be fair they did tell me to renew everything that was missing
but I would have to supply a “scene of crime number” which I did and then send the
receipts for the purchases to them and they would reimburse me when I had a think
it dawned on me the stuff that was pinched I wasn’t using so I would only be buying
it to give away so I didn’t see it through and finished up with nothing. My own fault.

I have never had to fill anything out Harry. Just rung the local office, who send a loss adjuster out to access the damage and they authorize repair.
Cheers Dave.
Only ever claimed that once & not since just didnt have the money to replace at the time & no forms just phoned up was sorted went to renew insurance & they had put it up by quite a bit due to claim
Ang I go on line and get several quotes, then when I get my quote from my insurer, I get back and say you will have to do better if you want to keep me, they come back with being you are a loyal customer we can give you a discount, I said thats good,
but they are covering me for breakdown and pipes and sewers on my property as well, I know thats about £60/70 extra on top of your normal policy, they chucked that in free and knocked £100 off of their quote.

Harry I sleep like a baby,
Churchill the dog, sent me a email saying being a safe driver I will get 80% knocked off, if I get another car and re-insure with them.

hiya,
Just had my car insurance broker on the phone, five minutes previously
I was reading in the paper that insurance premiums had fallen over the
last twelve months, this guy informs me although I have maximum no-
claims bonus my premium has gone up by £12 a year due to my age, so
I’ll be shopping around, my current insurance is supposed to be tailored
for us coffin dodgers my current insurance works out at £46 a month it
does include breakdown cover, I don’t normally bother shopping around
just wondering do any other “oldies” on here think my premium is a bit
on the excessive side or is it reasonable for a motor classed as a high
performance gas guzzler ( Toyota Corolla ), it is a bit quick though, the
road fund licence is £260 a year because of high emissions, its a 1.6.

Try Morethan Harry. I shopped around for Tracy when her car insurance was due, and they were the cheapest. I also did the same for her Uncle who has an Audi A4 and they now insure him.I have my van with NFU Mutual and the Travel Liner with Fish Insurance who specialise in converted vehicles. My advice is don’t try Saga.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Dave my broker is Swinton who arrange my insurance and have done for a while
and have just had a look-see and the underwriter just happens to be Saga, is it
because of my age that they farm me out to this company maybe none of the
other insurers will look at us “knockers” if the new premium of £47 isn’t too bad
I might just leave well alone, I’ll have a look at the comparison sites before my
renewal pops through the letterbox, it does cost money to cancel an existing
policy so if I’m going to change it’ll have to be before the early June renewal.
thanks harry, long retired.
