Ang, think of the money it is saving you,   no drnking, no night clubs, :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: no life  I hated nights, I told the mangerment, that nights was for " Owls, Policemen, and Prositutes ". :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

hiya,
Norm I would have done permanent nights loved it no loading or roping and
sheeting, just get it there and park it up return in the evening to a loaded
motor all checked over fuelled up and the windows cleaned it does tend to
spoil you when you have to return to tramping and do it yourself, Norman
you mentioned "owls, policemen and prostitutes, true, yes they’re knocking
about but I’ve never been stopped by the VOSA Gestapo when on nights.
thanks harry, long retired.

What about the deer and foxes that are around at night, not forgetting the badgers.
Not all the badgers are walking the streets with lipstick on.
Cheers Dave.

VOSA used to be hanging around Ashbourne’s car park at 5 am when we were on nights Harry, luckily we knew plenty of cross country lanes to avoid them! I loved night work, do a couple of loads then nip home for a couple of hours kip before going back to do a short day run, then home to bed ready for the next nightshift. Sometimes got my head down in the quarry at the end of the night ready for the tar plant to crack in at 5 am though, the start-up siren on the plant would wake me up nicely!! Happy days…

Pete.

hiya,
When outgoing I was always tucked up in the digs well before 5.00 am or in
my own bed when on the return journey weather conditions occasionally do
you no favours and cause you to have to put a full shift in but most times I
managed to get to bed early so’s I could get into a pub for a couple of pints
to set me up for my night drive, happy days.

Harry, my wife said I am always on my laptop, so I am just showing her I can advoid it.  Little dose she know I can sit in my front room watching the football and still do trucknet on my tablet also on my phone.

She will twig what you are up to Norm. I don’t like my laptop much. I prefer a bigger desktop which I use most of the time. I find those tablets a bit small. And as for the internet on the phone, that’s not for me.
Good job we are not all the same Norm. Good for you, proving that its not just the youngsters that use the modern gear.
Cheer Dave.

I don’t mind the tablet, I can with my finger and thumb I slide them apart to make the letter larger to almost half a inch high, and squeeze them closer to get her to make them smaller.

I will stick with my desk top Norm, and use my laptop for emerencies only. I only text on a mobile phone as a last resort. Much to fiddly for me.
Cheers Dave.

Dave at least you have a choice,   poor old Harry keeps buying a new laptop after he hitting his old one with a hammer when it will not do what he wants! What number are you at this moment Harry?

Yes Norm, I got a laptop for when my desktop is out of order. I do a lot of stuff online, such as paperwork involving my CPC for the hauliers that I’m with. If I had to go back to pen and paper,it would be a bit rough.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Seven including a proper computer which never let me down, this latest one has no
sound, will cost a fortune to fix so when this blows up I’ll be retiring, certainly not
forking out for another new one, I put the “proper computer” in the skip should have
maybe kept it for a spare, too late now I’m my own worst enemy.
thanks harry, long retired.

I’m behind you Harry, only had four computers. Knackered one desktop, another is in the loft, was to slow for broadband, but I can’t complain. I’ve spent a lot of hours on them over the last 14 or so years doing serious stuff and leisure time such as this.
Cheers Dave.

tell mrs gill that you want an iPad for easter harry , simple to use , idiot proof (i have one so they must be ) . i’ve never had any trouble with mine and it seems quicker than the laptop . if you sell the car you could get one with plenty left over for the amber nectar . cheers , dave

Have a mac lappy happy with it although is my 2nd the other was just too old & tired but never let me down in the 10 yr I had it but happy with this for now fast enough for me

me too and , macbook pro courtesy of our son in law who worked for apple . you have to keep up with the software updates to get the best out of them .dave

My Brother has a newish Apple laptop which I found very impressive, magnetic cable connectors so they wont snap off and plenty of other ‘goodies’ as well. No disc drive though. Very heavy as well… He then told me the price…£3.500…more than I paid for my Volvo 14 years ago!!! :open_mouth: I dropped my main computer last week so am now using a Toshiba laptop, might just stick with it now as it takes less room up, just that the smaller screen is taking some getting used to though.

Pete.

I find the laptop with a small screen a bit strange Pete. I use a desktop most of the time with a biggish monitor. I don’t fancy anything as small as a notebook sized PC. A lot of the time I’m on here I have music or live football coming through the extension speakers.
Cheers Dave.

My mac has a 13.5" screen used to it now & dont mind it really my lappy is fairly light & not that expensive in really worth it as my daughter has had 4 in the time & have had 2

What a lot you are,   I knew Harry hit his with a big hammer.   But you Ang have supposed to be the gentler ■■■, and Dave I thought you was a thrifty canny lad.   I had my first one about 6years ago, then purchased the second one 18 months later as a spare, my first one is still working but I had problems with the speakers, but got around that problem with buying a set of headphones with a mike for £19 and it works ok. but my youngest grandaughter wanted to learn to type out school work so I gave her it ,   and I am on my spare, both are Acer, but this model is Aspire5535 vista basic windows. I did think about upgrading to Windows 8 but it cost too much so I will wait until this goe’s wrong, or I see a top class bargain on sale! :unamused: :unamused:

Keep away from Windows 8 Norm, I have it on my laptop its a pain, and even the blokes that repair PC’s say the same. I’m on Windows XP which is supposed to have finished, but its going on for another year, so I’ve been told. My desktop is an Asus and the Laptop is HP. I used to have an Acer which was OK until I cooked it.
Cheers Dave.
