Repeated all day on the news today that Haribo is struggling to get its products to the shops due to DRIVER SHORTAGE.
I wasn’t aware that Haribo delivered their poison direct to supermarkets and shops.
Great free advertising for them so well done Haribo PR department, even though it’s complete BS.
Oops thread already done sorry
Gt-Bear culina do there delivery… another blue pointy logistics Company, struggling to find drivers. Need to pay more, if they can afford agency at £20+pH, why can’t they pay their own drivers £15ph…
Pay the money, the seats will be filled.
To many companies got contracts by using cheap labour,to keep costs low (I know it’s business) now they’ve got to up there wages.
Before Great Bear did the haulage and the new factory was built, DHL used to do it out of the old one in town. I spent many hours sat on the 3 bays there stuffing my face with free haribo then walk around the corner to the shop and get staff discount on carrier bags of sweets to take back for the various staff in the office who ordered them

It’s a small universe, full of coincidences…

Ahh, now that explains a lot…
The cheap labour that was used to keep wages down has upped and left and went back home due to Brexit / Covid . Now these huge logistics companies can’t make ends meet as they have screwed the prices to the floor by depending on the cheap labour . Rather than put their rates up and pay a decent wage they are running round screaming at the tops of their lungs about a driver shortage . It dosen’t exist - what does exist is a shortage of drivers perpared to work for poor money and worse conditions - simply nobody wants the be treated like something on the sole of your boot . Pay a decent , honest wage and there won’t be a shortage of drivers - simples

A Quate from a news item 2 days
Few British hauliers, expect the driver shortage to be made up by British people, due to the long hours, harsh working conditions in the industry. And of course the pay.
Sounds familiar.
Before this week they were offering £10.82 days/£11.52 nights…any 5 from 7
Sunday night for £11.52…are they on ■■■■■■■ drugs?
Meanwhile…Next door neighbours(GIST)were offering £13-£17
Various shift patterns available
I bet Haribo were happy with low cost rates while drivers earnt f all. They are now reaping what their quest to keep haulage rates low has sown. Same with every other company who’s mantra has been get haulage as cheap as possible to subsidise there cost to the supermarkets who themselves do not give a jot about anyone in the supply chains conditions despite their advertising ‘we care for our people and are free trade’

Exactly this.
I have no sympathy for any company moaning about having trucks stood or not having drivers etc. There was always a couple of simple answers for that. Most of it being pay, but also away from money, treatment of drivers. Improve those two, or even get away with one of those two, and they won’t have an issue.
