Cheers!

Is that old Atki a recent pic?

Hope not - it was restored wasn’t it?

Used to have one just like that, would love to have a go in one again.
If only to remember how bad it was and how lucky we are today in comparison…

Inspired by Bubblemans Scrapbook, this is for photos of lorries in their final resting place…

Leyland roadrunner at Hickman Brothers Landscapes Yard at Fullbrook, Oxon.

Sounds like a good idea for a thread Muckaway and I know you are probably right with “final resting place” but that makes me feel sad :frowning: I imagine a bloke standing just off camera, with the cutting gear ready to pounce, but I always hope these old motors might get rescued and restored. I know there’s not much hope in most cases but can we just call it “well earned resting place” and make me feel better. Should have one or two pics. to stick on when I am back on properly.

Here’s some of my old motor:

One for sammyopisite:

Here are a couple for you

The black Scania was ex Sayers Newbury

A burnt out Scania

here’s a couple from south wales.

This was an old J reg lanquishing in our yard. Unfortunately i didn’t manage to muster up the time to save her.
Another one succumbed to the torch… :frowning:

Great idea for a new thread. Have a look for Rush Green Motors. I think Carl posted a huge number of pictures of trucks ready for the, err scrapyard.

We do not seem to preserve our industry very much apart from the odd company who keep a pristine show fleet, the show circuit is getting a bit boring with the same sad old exhibits turning up year after year although some are a definate credit to their owners and restorers.

The export to third world countries and Malta has lost a lot of our good working trucks and liveries.

Maybe we should have something like the National Motorcycle Museum or the Wheatcroft Collection in a central location. My recent visit to the festival of 1000 bikes at Mallory Park started me thinking about this.

Another Robbins Crusader:

These are some of Hedley Simcock of Kington Herefodshires old lorries pictured in his yard.

Smith and Sons scrapped 4000 series being stripped for spares. :frowning:

There are some employees who think the Volvo FE7 next to it should get the same treatment!

The Oxford Bus Museum would be a good blueprint… :bulb:

God I have seen worse looking things than that on the road :open_mouth: and drove them as well

The credit crunch claimed that one. It needed money spending on it and with work drying up, management decided to use it to keep 3 rigids and an artic (see Cotswold Quarry thread) going, though now we’re down to just 2x6 wheelers of this type a V reg and a W. The scrapped unit was their first artic to run at 44ton gross and has (I think it’s still in there) a ■■■■■■■ M11 405. Apparently it was lovely to drive…

Scania 110 near Barry, South Wales.

Found these near Ross on Wye town centre!
