The Gibbett Roundabout A5.

What a mare! I’ve seen bigger islands in villages. Connects A5/M1. A5/M6. M1/M6. M6/M1. Queues at all approaches. No lane markings and because its so small no time to pull out without impeding another motorist. Plenty of land beside it to enlarge and improve. Any plans for this?

Gibbet is on the border of Leicester and Warwickshire I would think its a case of who would pay for a replacement and buy the land from the owners, and would it be worth it.Any congestion usually occurs when there has been an incident on the M6 or M1 in which case a larger roundabout will not make much difference you will still get stuck

just wait 'til magna park doubles in size!

I use it every day on drive to work, the queue on a5 North is right back to the scaffolding yard some mornings, but I am never in a rush to get to work. It is always fun watching stressed motorists using the right hand lane on approach to jump the straight on queue. If they are next me I make them work for it, and often my old Skoda’s acceleration surprises them.

The single lane A426 which connects the M6 to the A5 needs to be a dual carriageway with traffic heading to Magna Park able to continue alongside the roundabout without having to stop.

There’s room for two lanes there. One to go left and straight on and one to turn right. Why don’t they mark them up as so? Makes that last 50 yards a bit more bearable.
