The French at it again, Boss napping!

Got to give them there due , where you like them or not , From the BBC news web site,
"Workers at a Goodyear tyre factory in Northern France have been holding two managers captive in a dispute over plans to close the plant.

The director of production at the plant in Amiens, Michel Dheilly and human resources chief, Bernard Glaser have not been allowed to leave the plant.

Staff and management have been negotiating for years over how to deal with the loss-making plant.

The union is pushing for a redundancy plan with more generous payoffs.

Franck Jurek of the factory’s works council described the atmosphere at the plant as a “calm”.

“If there is no buyer, (we want) a plan for voluntary redundancies for everyone with loads of money,” he said.

French workers have a history of holding managers captive, although so called “bossnappings” were more common during the height of the financial crisis.

Companies including, 3M, Sony and Caterpillar were affected in 2009.

Generally workers have not been prosecuted for holding their bosses captive.

According to the CGT union, the two managers have been given water and still have their mobile phones.

“This kind of initiative, always to be condemned, is especially inopportune and counterproductive at a time when we should concentrate on the future of employees affected by the restructuring, after several years looking for a solution,” Goodyear said in a statement."

I like 'em, they get things done.

There are ( were ) 3 eco gantries in Brittany, they wrecked 2, so they put a police guard on the remaining one, they’ve zapped that now as well !
We now have the “Berit Rouge” they terminate speed cameras, death by fire, not sure how many they’ve got so far, I’ve counted 4 in our area.
The government decided all bikers should wear Hi Vis vests, after bikers, a LOT of bikers protested they said perhaps small flouresent arm bands? the bikers protested again…that particular law got shelved…
Give 'em there due, they get off their arses and do something, un-like the Brits who moan about it, but never do actually anything…
And yet…the transport drivers are the most powerfull group of workers in the UK. It’s a published and known fact, if every lorry driver went on strike for a week, the country would be completely crippled, no food, no fuel, nothing…always amazed me they’ve never got together ( the biggest problem) and done something when the need arises…

Anyway…Viva la French I say…then I am biased… :unamused:
