Thanks to all those keeping the economy and NHS going and condollencies to those bereaved.
Assuming this unpleasantness comes to an end without a zombie apocalypse scenario,
how will we recognise the end when it comes?
Two weeks with no new infections or fatalities?
How will we (or should we) celebrate/comemorate the end?
Big parties or “Festival of Britain” would precipitate fears of re-emergence.

The tin foil hat brigade will be along shortly after they’ve masked their IP address so the fuzz cant track them

When Wetherspoons open and Newcastle play their next game, looking forward to combining the 2 events

Pleeeease let’s not have another depressing ■■■■ doom and gloom thread with all the usual suspect participant posters who are actually enjoying all this

You are NOT, repeat NOT allowed to participate in this thread.
When social distancing measures are over and I can stand next to someone who stinks of BO in my local Co-oP.
I can buy 25kilos of Homepride flour, 100 packs of Ibuprofen and as much milk as I want.

But having to wait and queue, while waiting for a pint doesn’t seem so bad from here, does it?
My starter for 10:
The end end or Covid Climax as I like to call it where things are fully normal as before (aka before pre-■■■ Covid lockdown) will occur only when a vast majority (almost all the population) has either had it or been vaccinated or more likely a mixture of both. Even then we will still need border screening.
Anyway before then the start of long journey to normality will only begin when family visits from different households are allowed, this will begin when the ‘plateau’ of infections/deaths arrises and hopefully will coincide with the antibody test, it’s this test that will be our primary initial weapon.
Prob won’t happen like this I just drive a truck wtf do I know.
Other scenario is war with China but that’s a longshot.

Sadly they ain’t recruiting at the minute, but me gears ready for when it may change.
I’m very lucky Mr rob, my wife still has a job which is keeping us just about alive, but we’re sensible, no sky TV, no credit cards, was bought up to live with what you get, not what you can borrow.
There’s plenty of drivers as we know who ain’t getting any support, so in the spirit of humanity I’ll wait my turn.
Philanthropy is needed now more than ever to me, if we all share some bread, just maybe there will be enough of life left for us to rebuild and save some souls who didn’t make it through this misery.
But hey that’s just me.

Some may well become fitter.
Others may choose the less healthy options to cook at home, and even those who ended up getting vegan dinners and breakfast muesli, may find it hard to get low fat milk and so opt for zero fat vodka or cider.

im finding it quite pleasant raking through the cupboard/fridge/freezer and seeing what oddball combinations take my fancy for a change.
just similar to tramping in days gone by with making do with what you got…camion stew anyone??
My motivation in posting this topic was that I anticipate a situation where the “management” presses the “restore factory settings” button and finds that the already scarce and ageing HGV1s have abandoned their licences and DCPCs or followed different career options. I am unsure whether the military has maintained its tradition of putting leavers through their HGV and cpc licences and how much of a buffer this provides for us. Will the economy slowly develope into recovery mode or will there be a mamoth backlog to make up. Will there be an overseas pool of labour on which we can draw.
