Mine is around 60 miles, each way, but, as I’m away for weeks at a time, it’s not too bad.
35 mins or so each way, tear-arsing down the A47/A11. Only thing that puts me off is the 2 grand plus of after tax
money that goes in the tank annually. Keep thinking what a bloody good holiday that’d pay for!
Well when I did agency work to get a bit of experience behind me, I did some work in Telford which was about an hour each way for £7 an hour but I guess beggars can’t be choosers. Bloody horrible having a 2 hour commute on top of a 12 hour day on palletline work. Company was great to work for but the commute from kidderminster was lousy in the dark.
Work from Besford, Worcester now which is about 45 mins but only gotta do it once a week which is much better. Just the trek to Maidenhead in a hire car now but we get paid so it ain’t all that bad!
I know a geezer who works in a factory and its 1.5hrs to work - 12hr shift - then 1.5hrs back home!! Crazy and it’s ■■■■ money!!
i use to do a round trip of 50 miles and on night work about a 1hr and 20 min total journey i have swapped that for a 5 minute journey and the difference is amazing
My grandad once said to me;
‘work starts the moment you step out off your front door’.
For a good few years my commute took me all of 15 seconds (longer if I was carrying my breakfast, as I walk a bit slower in that situation - don’t want to slop tea all over my toast!). But nowadays I have a 17 mile drive or ride to work, more like 20 miles coming home again. I don’t mind the time it takes - but I’m rarely at work for more than 10 hours so it doesn’t eat into my daily rest.
Contraflow:
10 minutes down hill on the way there, 13 minutes uphill on the way back.If I go in the car, 5 minutes either way.
And there’s me thinking you swing from tree to tree to get there
20 minutes in the morning and 40 minutes in the afternoon. Wouldn’t fancy any more than that, unless it was megabucks!
57 miles each way, 4 nights a week but then I get 4 off to recover.
It’s not ideal but I enjoy the job and money’s good, and where I come from you’ve not got much choice.
5 mins to work 15 back home so it’s ok been the agency 60 mins there and back but just starting out so had to go where the experience was.
Works in Willenhall one lad takes 90 mins from evasham to work does a day then same back bugger that lol
Free of charge and good for health commuting - I do cycle between 15 and 20 minutes each way. It is around 6 miles daily. Unfortunately, not the best way if there is the rain.
less than 5min going …but can be hours going home
passing the local bar…
Not really sure of mileage tbh, but I do know that I had to fill up last Sunday, first time since Jan 28th 2014. So that’ll do me.
