Found another copy of the Willacy and a Jenkinson from a while ago. The dumper is another one from Caldbeck Quarry in the early 80s and I think it is a Scammell Himalayan

Hello truckfing
Thankyou for that excelent photo. Thats exactly what I was thinking of.
I think Jenkinsons only run on Mercedes now, and thats a 4 wheeler running as a drawbar with horse bedding as its regular load.
Kindest regards

Not got any pics yet as always pass it in the dark, but Chamber’s Garage at Tirril (near penrith) have a very smart DAF XF in pulling a new tipper trailer, often parked outside over night.

Goes with a very impressive line up of Recovery trucks.

Not seen that one but this is a new one to me. Say’s Grange over Sands, ■■■■■■■ on the door. Mind you it say’s NIL SATIS NISI OPTIMUM above the door so maybe it comes from Rome.

Hiya “Truckfing”,I think this Latin bollox says something like “nothing but the best” or similar,IIRC Young Bob Brady had the same or similar on his motors, must be something peculiar to the Furness Peninsular I think !! Well there was a big Abbey and a lot of Monks at one time so they would have spoke latin so it must be in the DNA !! Come to think of it,the Barrovian dialect sounds a lot like Latin !! Cheers Dennis.

Here’s a few ■■■■■■■■■■ taken on the A76 at Sanquhar over a few years. Eddie.

dead right Dennis, I looked it up on Google and it is the motto of Everton, a football club apparently. Gives it as “nothing but the best is good enough”. I did a year of Latin at school but it is long forgotten now. There is a radio station in Finland that broadcasts in Latin I heard. It is an easier language than Finnish. My brother could probably confirm that, he has just done a year at college in Finland trying to learn the language but I don’t think he is much further on.

Your brother would have been better served by going to live with bma.Benkku for a year,at least he would have taught him all the “naugthy words” in Finish, then he would have been fine, travel anywhere in Finland and get by no trouble, now *@##% Off !! !! Cheers Dennis.

He reckons everybody over there speaks English but in three weeks I didn’t find anybody who could until I went to Helsinki where all the shop people seem to speak it.

Thanks Dave tippers seem to be a bit quite up this way apparently the open cast’s are suffering at the expense of cheap coal imports imagine bringing coal from Columbia it is landed at Hunterston seems crazy eh. Eddie.

It’s brought down from Hunterston in two thousand ton loads by rail to Yorkshire, apparently using one Engine that has the throttle wide open and only doing 15mph over the last steep part of the Settle Carlisle line ! Bit of useless info told to me by a train driver I know ! Cheers Dennis.
