Well worth watching this week episode all about a head on HGV crash.
Watch a driver get caught out lying thanks to ??? incase you watch it.
It’s on bbc iplayer.
Terribly sad ending.
I had exactly the same going into bidfood paddock wood , foreign lorry comming straight towards me on wrong side of road ( though I saw him from a fair way away ) , I just hit horn & put on full beam , he eventually went back on his side of the road , not a nice experience
Poor lad , really sad & sounds a really well liked lad , they say they take the best first .
I haven’t seen it, don’t need to now. ![]()
That one.
Terrible sentence.

Thing is, how many of us can say we never did it whilst abroad?
Hand on heart never! That was probably because I was actively concentrating. My problem occurred when I was back in Blighty and perhaps a bit complacent and turned right from a T junction straight onto the wrong side of the road.
I did it but only on an industrial estate……to make it more embarrasing it was a left hooker .![]()
I’ve never done it.

I do know that locals and Turks driving on the wrong side of the road and staying there was more of a problem driving in East Euro than Brits doing it anywhere.Including having to take evasive action on a lucky convenient verge when confronted by a truck trying to overtake a truck and a coach trying to overtake the overtaking truck on a single carriage way bend in the old Yugoslavia now Slovenia. It got worse the further South you went.Unlike here the modern generation of East Euro drivers seem better than their forebears but no guarantees.
The strange thing about this case is that it seems to have happened at a relatively low speed on small local roads ?.Seems like a lot of damage and no avoiding action or emergency stop, either way, for the situation. But cab over trucks are always going to provide marginal protection in any bad impact.
The dashcam from the Polish truck showed that the MAN had anchored on with the hazards going. And locked trailer wheels. Combined speed of 45 and he’s attempted to swerve.
Looked like the merc was just dawdling along on the wrong side.
There is a bit of a summary of the outcome here
It should be.
There’s a pop up for “accept, or reject and pay “ and a 3rd option, click accept.
Edit, double link removed
Yes, seen it now but I don’t equate ‘accept’ with ‘free’, it is only free if I accept whatever it is they want me too. ![]()
I do that every time I get off the last flight into Teesside Airport when I’ve been on a press trip driving left hand drive demo trucks. Just as well it’s pretty dead down that bit of road late on!
