The cost if takeaway

I have my 4 children this weekend and they have decreed we are having Domino’s pizza.

So that’s 4 children (2 pizzas and some side dishes and a drink)

3 adults (Mrs TT, Sister of Mrs TT and myself one pizza each and some sides)

70 quid later and I’m still hungry.

Why does it need to cost so bloody much?

‘D’oh!’

They’ve got to fund their 30+k (starting) salaries somehow.

Pizza Hut is the same expensive , local ones are a lot cheaper but not always as nice as dominos etc ,soon adds up when you start getting the different bases etc

could probably eat for a fortnight for £70 at Aldi !!!

I probably could but it would mean shopping at Aldi

A good point well made!! I don`t care for the taste of sawdust either!

Dominos is very expensive but is better than a pizza from the local kebab IMHO. When you said you had a pizza each, were they large ones? They can be £15 +. Did you put a discount code in?

Dunno if your kids are in college, but perhaps Domnos might accept a student card as discount??

I did four weeks for Dominoes, in a four wheeler,(15 years ago after being made redundant from a good job) delivering 10 tons of fillings, boxes & Dough, about 8 or 9 drops a day down south, breaks whilst you are unloading, every thing handball & you even had to put the Bloody stuff in the fridges ( I was waiting to be told to make the Bloody things & deliver them too :imp: ) continental shifts, so I was working nearly every weekend, I learnt the round in a week, then was racing around like Sebastian Vettel being chased by Alonso.

Went as far as Brighton (2 hours drive from MK) & all points in between (Stains was a Dirty Hole, I wouldn’t let a dog use their toilet !)

Hardest job I’ve ever done !

& to top it all- I never got given a single Pizza in the four weeks that I slaved for them. Tight Gits. :unamused:

We don’t do take aways, neither do we get or indulge in the coffee shop routine, daylight robbery the lot of 'em.

Why would you pay 3 times the price things are worth for poor substandard but highly overrated instant food/drink.

Shop carefully at one of the good supermarkets (Morrisons takes some beating), find pizza’s on special offer, stock up when they are, grab some salad stuff for side dishes etc, frozen chips etc, cans of whatever they fancy.

I bet you will have better tastier food prepared in half an hour and heaps of it for less than £20.

Does that sound tight, probably but some of us will have worked up to a full day to come out with that £70.

By the way, seeing as i’m on a roll… :unamused:
Morrisons currently have Beef Pork joints and legs of lamb all at half price, we’ve stocked the second freezer up for the next 6 months…also they have whole Scottish salmon at half price, we bought three beauties, i filleted them and the Mrs individually wrapped and froze them, large salmon seaks worked out at £1.50 each doing it this way.

For a wry look at certain coffee shops look up Jackie Mason on YouTube and listen to his Starbucks routine, Shmucks.

The drivers doing Class 2 deliveries.
As martinviking said, hard work.
Class 1 is where the Class 2 drivers want to be, double manned earning truck loads.

I read on another forum a post by somebody saying that he used to work at Dominos and that a £15 pizza cost Dominos £1 to buy in.

Sorry Nick, you should have phoned, you missed out on her home sweet and sour pork with rice and spring rolls and some other home made Chinese dish tonight, cold bottle of Corona to wash it down, bliss.

God i love this woman, far too good for me.

I feel your pain tipper Tom last Christmas time we spent an evening over my cousins. We ordered shed loads 4 adults 3 kids he said wed go halfs but no I had to insist never again!. I wasn’t expecting change from 40 quid or anything but not the 70 off quid I paid, a valuable lesson learnt that night lol.

Me don’t usually indulge in the takeaway culture and we very rarely eat stuff from supermarkets (prepared meals and pizza and the like)

Mrs TT cooks like a phantom and I enjoy cooking.

I just thought 70 quid was steep.

Me and the mrs have a take away every weekend and never bother with dominos it’s daylight robbery… Our local pizza shop does an 18" pizza for £10.99 and is very nice, but dominos seems to trade on its brand and charge a premium for it.

7 People…£10 per head? Not bad :open_mouth:

Aye but for pizza? Does seem a lot. That’s without a drink or dessert mind.
