The car tourists do not take notice

The cars and vans have their bicycles on the back, all the lights are covered up,you can not read the number plate, there are warnings that the Gendarmes view this as no lights and no number plate, the fine is a lot. There are signs up at some ports to warn travellers of their impending doom,to sort out the payment at the road side, for the deposit for the courts.

Just another typical Toby pointless rambling post…Not sure what he’s on but I will avoid it.

Bike racks on the back,if the car hit your truck and sped off,you cant read the number plate, with the bikes there, you cant see any lights, when they brake, you go up the back of them.

I know what u mean Tobes, some cars you can’t see the lights or the plate I don’t know how they get away with it, my bike rack is one designed to fit above the lights and plate so I’m ok but personally I wouldn’t want my lights covered up for our own safety.

Here we go again…
FFS Toby, wots that got to do with a truckin site
But on saying that I did see quite a few camper vans on my recent trip over the water that had the square red and white striped boards attached to the bikes, so there are some that comply and I think those were in the majority.

I once rescued a Polish couple, somewhere before Brussels, by exchanging £ for E’s. They didn’t have enough cash to pay 50e fine as they had just paid for fuel and the cash machine there refused their card. Copper on motorbike asked for car keys and told them to get a lift to bank and report to police station so and so. I though it was a bit harsh, he could have escorted them.
‘Funny’, upon paying the fine they were suddenly legal, though the lights and plate were still obscured by bikes…
