The Brits in 2007

Ready for some flack - although I’m NOT trying to provoke a reaction for the sake of it folks

Went through Steenvoorde border yesterday afternoon, and along with the other Convoi Exceptionnel loads (Norwegian yacht, German yacht), local tippers and silo tanks etc there were at least half a dozen British tautliners, which would usually please me as it shows we do still do some European work

Unfortunately they were all, without exception, oldish - not a problem in itself - and scruffy as hell, unwashed and covered in bodges like insulation tape and broken lenses (and that was just the drivers  only joking, but only just)

No way am I saying that we should all run around like Stobarts, and certainly not like Joe Sharp and others, but would you agree the “British fleet” is a rather scruffy flotilla on the whole these days?

There are some scruffy motors about, but,as you said,it’s nice to see some Brits over here.
Ones I’ve spotted this week are:
McLanachans
OnTime Automotive
Carr Bros.
E.M.Rogers
and a trio of new silver & blue DAF ssc’s,whose name eludes me.

Haven’t seen any Ralph Davies about for ages.

Yes, it’s the eastern bloccers who have the proper gear nowadays!

Our fleet’s all right :open_mouth: :stuck_out_tongue: .

Our units are washed almost every week, but the trailers are only washed for MOT testing  .
