Just a short announcement which may not mean much to you lot but it means a hell of a lot to me.
Due to computer problems I have been locked out of this website (but not all my other haunts) for a month or so but due to a ■■■ change operation (that is a joke you would only get if you knew my new password), I’ve made it back in.
I have lurked occasionally but the pain was too great, listening but not able to talk back.
As I have already said in the ex-Pats section if any one has pm’d me in the last month or so please repeat, I can’t access my old account.
Ok, carry on talking. I’ll sit here and listen and then dive back in.
Cheers Kitkat, don’t worry, my bum may be a bit ample these days but I don’t do fence sitting - too painful!
And anyway the temptation is too great to join in. I was one of the early CBers in Europe I suppose. I always loved to be alone, which partly explains why I became a driver, but I also love to talk. When CB arrived - the best of both worlds, if you don’t want company you can just switch it off. Just like here!
Thanks Vince but you’re getting a bit technical for me now. Some months ago Wheelnut assisted some photos of mine onto the site but it wasn’t straightforward and I’ve no idea how he did it.
Hi Mal,
Thanks for the welcome. The new name is an abbreviation of the word for a native of the neighbouring village to us. Spardocians come from St. Pardoux la Riviere. We live in St. Front la Riviere just down the road but I have a derivative of that in another place and as one of the reasons for my enforced absence was my computer getting confused when different usernames were linked with different passwords, I decided to change.
Anyway we have close associations with St. Pardoux having been members of the petanque club there for a dozen years called - ‘Spardocians’!
Also, at the annual night market in July, a great fete with music, dancing, eating, and drinking in the closed off streets, there is a wicked punch type liquid served up from great stainless steel vats called ‘Spardo’ - Cheers!
Interesting little explanation was that Dave! As a coincidence, this afternoon we have been to a continental market right here in Cannock, and I fed well on Bratwurst, some really nice stuff from the French Alps i think, with sliced potatoes, cheese, bacon and all sorts in a really big frying pan type thing, anyway it was reet nice but in buggered if I can remember the name! After that a crepe, good feed!
Mal:
Ah, stuff the quacks Jim, i gotta have some fun!

just a little boost for you mal,i happened to be talking to an english lad last week.he does the tramping all over uk and he was telling me that he had a heart attack and the by-pass operation, and is now fully recovered and back fighting fit and back on the tramping.but he did say that he doesn’t do as much as he used to do.so with a bit of luck mal we’ll see you on the road once you get your fitness back mate.hope this gives you a little boost.
Thanks to all for the warm welcome, Lady, Coffee & JB.
As for memoirs JB, you’ll get 'em all the time but in dribs and drabs as and when the subject comes up. You can’t stop an old git from sounding off. You should know that. Remember there’s more miles travelled in the caff than ever on the road!
