The Big Countdown to 50 mph

robroy:
I said a couple of weeks ago I was done with this thread because of all the ‘Speed target’ muppets on it, but on Fri I noticed it’s started already.
In Cornwall on the A30 (think it was :unamused: ) being Fri I was sat about 46/47 (yeh I know above limit but read my previous posts on this) looked in the mirror DAF tipper right up my jacksey sat on white line. After a couple of miles he pulls out gets along side me showing 5 fingers, now unless this is a new abusive gesture I don’t know about, I assume that he was telling me I should be sat at 50 :unamused: . blissfully unaware he was a week or so early anyway, and ignoring that he passed me in a particular dangerous part of the road. Anway off he pops…on his limiter…by the look of it. These are the type of [zb] s that are going to [zb] the whole thing up

And judging by some comments on this thread, he may even be on here :unamused: .

Not me I rarely leave Oxfordshire never mind driving on the limiter, about 50 on dcway is fast enough for us. :grimacing:

^^^^^ Without dashcam footage it didn’t happen! Oh, hang on…

Can anyone confirm 100% that the single carriageway limit changes on the 6th? The dual carriageway one is because it says it on the government website but there’s no mention of the singe. Getting conflicting reports with some people saying the s/c limit will change at a later date

I like the comments at the bottom, nearly all of them “Seems a bit silly setting the speed limit to 60mph but limit them to 56mph”.

Is it the A554 that goes to the M6 from the Manchester ring road? Saw a camera flashing 2 artics that were doing 50ish. Some people must have thought it was April 1st… Oops

Isn’t that the stretch that people mistakenly think is a dual carriageway?

Conor:

Yup, two lanes either way but no physical divide between them.

School boy error then!

If you go around your driving test 10 mph below the limit it’s a fail so there for the good old 40 brigade would be be classed as dangerous driving I would have thought.

Cobblers. Go over the speed limit on test and that’s a definite fail as is driving significantly under it; but FYI the " good old 40 brigade" are only doing it because they have to and because, like it or not, until April that is the law.

You will rack up speed minus for going to slow or you did at least when did my test

I’ve already said that. See the red highlighted bit.

Roll on next week, I can start making decent progress. Looking at my loads over the last few weeks though, I reckon our planner’s been running on the limiter all the time!

Do you mean the A556?

He probably does, though it goes from the M6 to the M56 rather than the M60. About to undergo massive upgrading too, huge construction company premises is taking shape just by the Bollin roundabout and the most the important infrastructure is in place…I saw the 40 signs there today!

That’s the one. Not a road I use very often. M56/M6 link with the DVSA checkpoint by the M56

They’re bypassing it I think but will rejoin the old road near the M56.

So no kissing the VOSA station goodbye just yet
