That sounds like fun Brian , invalided and at the mercy of 'er indoors over the festive season . Will you be able to reach the whiskey bottle before she hides it ? Best of luck anyway .

I will expect to be waited on in a manner to what I’m accustomed to. I will need ‘pampering’ …and I’d better get it .
Of she thinks 60 years of marriage entitles her to ‘special privileges’…she;s mistaken

Oh heck , I’ve just realised that if you go out anywhere she will have to drive the car !

We went for a meal at a lovely old pub on Sunday and the place was full of Christmas decorations, carols playing over the sound system and staff dressed in festive outfits, it was really nice. Busy arranging our clubs Christmas meal this coming week, nothing fancy just a pie and peas supper, but quite looking forward to it.

Brace yourselves, that time of t’ year is coming!

BAH HUMBUG!

Ye gods, :unamused: Seeing as I have an appointment with the surgeons knife in 8 days (have I told you about my knee  ) and you go posting pictures of bloody ********* jumpers. I need cheering up man, I don’t need depressing with pictures like that. :imp::smiley:

Well, there’s bad news and there’s even worse news. The bad news is I’m still in pain with my knee, the even worse news is my surgery (Nov. 1st) has been cancelled, :open_mouth: Hospital rang yesterday…“we will re book you for Friday Dec. 20th”
Oh joy. :imp:

Look forward to it - it’ll possibly be the best Christmas present ever! Pain free and running around like a young ''un! (and that’s from someone who’s had both replaced) Every time I go for my annual check-up I tell the surgeon it was the best day’s work he ever did!

Steve

I’ve had both knees replaced, this bugga has come loose and they are having to do a repeat performance (and the word is the REVISION , that’s what it’s called, is a more complicated job) If (and it’s a big IF, if they do it on Dec.20th I’ll be in dock over Christmas

The knee saga rumbles on and now I will miss my hospital Christmas dinner. :imp: they’ve rung again…“if you’re available Mr GOM we can do your surgery Friday, November 29th”. Pete windrush said it’s never too early to start, how the hell can I plan for the festivities when new dates are being thrown at me?
I was going to wash my hair on the 29th Nov. …oh no, wait a minute, I’m bald.

I hope none of the nurses are built like my avatar, a duff knee and a buxom nurse will be too much for an old man to handle

Probably done you a favour there GOM, missing Christmas dinner in hospital. Now you will be able to sit around the table at home with your loving family pulling crackers and relating the awful jokes to one another. Listen to Her Majestys speech, then crash out for a couple of hours until tea time and do it all again. In the evening look for the packet of Rennies that you will need before bed time, a picture of domestic bliss I painted and you could have missed out on all that!

Pete.

My god, listen to him :unamused: can somebody stop him, I’m feeling a bit nauseous with all this yo ho ho nonsense.

Now Pete…behave, enough of all this, as a special dispensation from the forum you can come back with the Christmas swaddling on December 21st, NOT BEFORE…

Ah well, December 21st is my birthday so will make a special effort that day. Getting the decorations down from the wardrobe this week to see if we need some fresh ones. The illuminated Santa will be checked as well.

Dave,
You will have to pop down over the border and explain to Pete what this thread is about, putting up decorations FFS! Bah Humbug

Take no notice of Dave’s ramblings Pete, he wont venture this far south incase it snows and he can’t get back home. I know a few folk around Buxton/Fairfield/Doveholes/Chelmorton/Combs and they are all far better off than me! One even runs a Lexus, a blooming LEXUS for heavens sake, down here I struggle to run a Citroen and a Peugeot on my meagre pension. :unamused: Anyway the deccys aren’t going up yet, not before the middle of December, so rest easy. Have written a few cards though, but strangely haven’t received any yet?

Pete.

Pete,
Buxton must be situated in a stockbroker belt if they are riding around in a Lexus!
Dave have you been on one of ROF’s courses?

Said Lexus is 15 years old Pete , nice and comfy , and I don’t have to grovel round under some cheap French bangers mending them . Never had the honour of one of ROFs expensive courses , speaking of the southern immigrant , he ponces round in a Jaguar these days so the courses must have paid off .

Nowt wrong with a nice twin turbo Jaguar  and I know Larry Dunbar has one. There’s Pete Windrush buying tinsel and other festive rubbish, I’m saving up to buy a tankful of fuel :frowning:

I’m eco friendly though , Lexus hybrid . Cruise round town on the electric motor , costs nowt .When I need a bit of go there is a 3.3 v6 petrol for backup . I have nothing against Jags , its the getting in and out that bothers me hence the Lexus .Bloody old age , Bah Humbug

Already seen a couple of housed with Christmas decorations up what on earth far too early for that might put some up on 24th December as have birthdays on 10 11 12 19 27 29 December
