Thank Christ for that

Pack up tomorrow for a month , would of been longer with brexit / covid just going to have a nice break at home
Hope all the employed drivers who arnt as lucky as us agency drivers manage to get home Xmas eve ( that’s if your company have allowed you to have Xmas day off !! ) , apparently snow forecast over Xmas so hopefully mrs has got you a shovel to dig yourself out for your Boxing Day start
Maybe get this board up & going again with company drivers woes over Xmas , can’t wait to read them
Have a good Xmas / new year & don’t work too hard !

 Aye, he THINKS he’s finished tonight, that is until his planner shafts him with something undoable in a day, knowing he’ll try and achieve it.
So it’ll be another Fri night in a craphole lay by and a supper of crisps, Mars bar,.and a can of Lilt, …while his steak is frying at home for the dog.

Suppose you’re bound to be off for a month doze, seeing as the agency will have ■■■■ all to do after Christmas eh?

Me?..I finish tomorrow, maybe even run in Sunday with the way things are time of year, but not fussed as I’ll be off then for a fortnight…away from all this crap. :sunglasses:

Enjoy yer time off doze anyhow.

Ah…the annual"what have you got of for christmas"thread.

Well, only the big 3, for me again. :frowning:
Took all mine in the spring/summer/early autumn

I finish Xmas Eve and return on Jan 4th. That time off for the cost of three days holiday is a no brainer.

Dozy … the gift that keeps on giving

robroy:

:

Why are you calling me a dog? :smiling_imp:

Whats on the menu, I hope its turkey as there is only so much steak that a man can eat. Merry Christmas to all of the readers.

Good call. Much prefer my time off when the weather is warmer.
My lot shut down for nearly 2 weeks at Xmas and with the miserable weather it seems a waste if holiday.

I Never take holidays when there’s more night than day.

Excellent… I hope you enjoy your holiday pittance, sorry “pay” after the sublime Logistics people have shafted you

I’m off from Saturday also. I’ll happily bank my £170 a day holiday pay as a full timer secure in the knowledge that HMRC aren’t going to come after me for whatever cluster ■■■■ your “agency” has signed you up for.

Ho ho ho.

Wonder if dozy got finished or shafted then,.we’ll maybe never know.

I finished yesterday afternoon, left my truck clean outside, and spotless and polished on the inside …as a gentle hint for anybody who takes it out to keep it that way. :unamused: won’t hold my breath.

Was really looking forward to time off, but sat today at home, fire blazing, christmas tree and lights up, in my shorts and ‘Holidays are coming’ t.shirt, (trying to get into the spirit  ) flicking through the football while the Mrs is away shopping, suddenlly dawn’s on me this ain’t like any other Christmas hol.
Normally today I’d be in the pub with mates watching the Super Sunday games knocking back pints of John Smith’s and having a ■■■■ good laugh, the only way me and a mate could do this is to have a Scotch egg and pretend to be a couple ffs ! :open_mouth: then suffer the ■■■■ crap of being reminded to wear my mask every time I went to the khazi, before being timed out and asked to leave, to make room for the next lot…who had to book a table and slot ! :open_mouth:

Don’t want to start another ruck with all the pro obsessive Covid crew on here, couldn’t be arsed, but all this sh is starting to get to me big style now.

I usually would have a few days out and parties planned,.and get togethers and meals with me and my wife,.and mates and their wives (not those type of get togethers either btw  ) but absolutely Jack ■■■■ planned for same ■■■■ reason. :imp:

Now I find that we can only spend time with families at Christmas Day (if I’ve read all this crap right) so the Boxing day at my daughters, and New Years day at my eldest lads we had planned is banned…aye like ■■■■ it is, call me irresponsible or whatever tf you like, but I’m still going, my Mrs is a bit of a conformist, so I’ll have to work on her, but it’s gonna spoil her days to an extent. :unamused:
Thing is…how come during work time I can (and do) meet unlimited amounts of strangers, and that’s acceptable, but as far as meeting my family…that’s a no no. :imp:
So I’ll be parking my motor discreetly near their houses, and avoiding all the arse hole self appointed Covidpolice informants grassing us up on both those days. :imp:

As I said, getting ■■■■■■ off with it all now, they can shove these restrictions up their arses.
I just hope all this ■■■■ crap is done by next summer.
Happy Christmas. :unamused:

I finished Friday for 2 weeks, had a cottage booked on west coast of Scotland for Christmas week, just me,the wife and our Leonberger puppy, now with all the new restrictions we,re spending the holiday at home, which hacks me off as my job involves me tramping away all week running up and down to Scotland with a fridge,
If i can spend 50% of my working week in Scotland delivering and loading chill/frozen products for various locations all over England how come i can,t go to a cottage that was booked for its remoteness for maximum peace and quiet.

There is no logic mate, nor no consistency in their stupid ■■■■ rules.
My Auntie who has breathing difficulties and in her 80s goes for the vaccine this week, and I’ll be taking her. (fully masked up. :bulb: )
She has not been out since March, and she is and has been, responsible enough to look after herself, with help from us, and prevent herself from getting the virus,…and that is my beef with all this.
Let those who need to, do the same, self responsibility, and with as much help as possible from the rest of us, but those who wish to carry on as normal, (but at the same time take .SENSIBLE precautions to protect themselves and others :bulb: )., just get on with it…as we are expected to do whilst still working.

Because wee Jimmy Krankee says so, but if you go by train and are an MP, or going for an eye test, your fine.

Is that not half of the problem with the spread though Rob?

People saying ■■■■ it I’ll do what I want when I want?

Is it also not the case that shops and work places have procedures and hand sanitiser and protection screens, wearing a mask, extra hygiene and cleaning and one way systems and reduced amount of traffic in and out to minimise contact and passing it on? Or at least are trying to minimise the risk of catching it from someone else.

How many people can say they keep 2 meters apart in a house setting wherever possible or have a one way system or wear a mask in close contact when visitors come round?

It’s quite simple to understand that viruses spread by saliva, mucus, snot and hand to hand and surface to surface contact. Even an idiot can grasp that simple principle. Most viruses spread that way so I see no reason to believe this one is much different.

Yes it’s ■■■■ and it’s a real downer but people going ■■■■ it I’ll do it my way and ■■■■ everyone else probably is making it worse for us all.

No one is enjoying any of this in any shape or form and we are all fed up of it and may not agree with every bit of stuff they come up with next. But what else can we do other than do the best we can to try and get back to normality?

If we don’t get on top of this it could be here forever and only her worse and worse and nobody wants that.

But it’s OK the only people who need to protect themselves is those at high risk of dying from it because no one with underlying health issues or old age has died from it have they or after having it. And it’s OK for the likes of my brother who works for the NHS or his wife who works in social care or the rest of the real front line workers to have to risk daily catching this virus just by doing their jobs or in the case of my brother often doing other jobs than the job he normally does as that job can’t be done half the time and he has to pitch in elsewhere.

It’s ■■■■■ all round for everyone but the more ■■■■ it attitudes and is anything likely to get any better?

I’ve said my bit and won’t bother replying again as no doubt you’ll tell me what a conformist I am etc.

Tbf I ain’t saying completely ‘I’ll do what I want when I want’ generally, ,.I was referring to my situation over Christmas concerning my family.
My 4 grown up kids are of a similar mindset.about this, if one or any of them were not, I would respect that.
We all work,.we all face the daily threat of catching this thing, and we all (including me) do what we can to avoid it, hand cleansing, masks and all the rest of it.

I ain’t saying the virus ain’t real, and whatever you say, and as tragic as it is, it’s a very small percentage of healthy non underlying issue type people who have died of it…more people die of other things,.fact,.and I still think the death rate stats CAUSED by Covid are exaggerated, but that’s just my opinion.
My daughter also works in a health centre and has had regular checks.
The way I see it, I am the oldest in my lot, so maybe the most at risk,.who knows, but I’m willing to take the slim chance of catching it (as I do everyday at work with no rilules telling me not to! ) amongst my immediate family.

I ain’t gonna call you anything mate, and if you don’t want to reply, that’s entirely up to you, but imo we all should just be left to make up our OWN minds as to how we deal with this, not being made to jump through hoops in our social life, at weekends and holidays, but a complete virtual free for all the next day we go to work…(in essence, not literally)

The problem with allowing people to make up their own minds though Rob is… idiots.

They’re everywhere. And I’m not talking about those who bend a few rules here and there whilst still remaining mindful of the situation. I’m talking the ones who just disregard and won’t be told anything.

The vast majority will use common sense. The minority won’t. Thats the reasoning behind H&S, covid rules etc - the lowest common denomination of people where we have rules because simple people are unable to think beyond themselves or for themselves.

There are still people trying to travel through Heathrow to countries that are not accepting them, for instance.

Yeh ok, fair comment, …but we’ve got 3 types of people in this situation.
The servile and obsessive, who would walk around in stockings, suspenders and a plastic mac if the Govt told them them it was both the rules and a way of avoiding this plague,.and go on to repeat all the hype scaring the ■■■■ out of many others.

The ones (like me) who listens to all this stuff with an open mind, go through the charade of masks etc, and do the important basics of keeping their hands sanitized etc, but do not believe ALL of the crap fed to us.

And lastly the ones you mention, The I couldn’t give a ■■■■’ crew.
