Iv’e found a B/W shot of a Scots based 6 wheeler Trader flat running into Kendal along Shap Road in about 1961,it was loaded with sawn wood not the usual pulp wood that used to come down from Scotland.I am going to start scanning another load of shots from the Bewick archive in the next day or two so I will stick the Trader onto this thread.Fingers crossed, cheers Bewick.

John
This is the shot of the 6 wheeler Trader rolling into Kendal around 1961,this would be one of the first photos I took with my first camera.By the looks of the reg no. it is a Perthshire motor and by the direction the shadow of the sun is casting it is late afternoon so it is possible he left home that morning.it looks like he’s fully freighted but he made it over Shap! reliable motors those Traders!! by the looks of it it has some damage to the N/S wing as-well. Cheers Dennis.
Started my first driving job March 63 on an Stype Bedford six weeks later I got the Trader brand new complete with radio and chrome bumper so there was a bit o Bling even in them days. Nice motors the Traders did what was asked of them.
Eddie.
That is just one v. smart Trader!!! I’ve never ever seen one with a chrome bumper, was it an optional extra? It definietly puts all to-days “Blingers” in the shade,I hope you looked after it and kept it polished! Cheers Bewick.

John,
I worked for Blue Star Garages on Keele msa for about 6 months in 1970 so this pic could be a little before my time, but the Diamond T with the ■■■■■■■ badge and the Holmes wrecking gear look familiar.
We did a lot of recovery between Birmingham and Manchester at the time.
Aye Dennis auld Wattie kept us supplied with bottles o Autobrite polish and even the wooden body got polished, the bumper was an extra Wattie’s three grandsons are still in buisness and the motors still look smart they run about eight now and TONT alias Kenneth Marchbank does a lot of the paint jobs on them even the lettering.
Eddie.
There used to be a firm from Oakley nr Bedford called FM Sparrow who had at least one 6 wheeled Trader and i think it was double drive as i remember the driver giving it some welly on a wet road while turning right and ploughing straight into a hedge in front of him …This would be about 1967 when i was still driving a van
