That’s crap for a 20 meg connection, having said that it’s only slightly worse than mine and I’m also on a 20 meg Virgin Media connection.
To be fare the best and most accurate way of checking you connection speed is to download some files from VM server and use a download manager that shows the speed of the download.
When I tested my speed it was only slightly better than yours, but I’ve just downloaded some files with Newsleacher and got a download speed of 2.33MBs which is about right, you really need to be using several connections to max the speed which is why Internet speed tests tend not to give an accurate measurement on fast connections.

Not really - has it got anything to do with how quick a file of a certain size is downloaded into my PC
