Has anyone worked for Tescos in Thurrock or any other tescos doing C+E work if so what they like to work for ?
I’ve worked out of Snodland (chill & frozen) whereas Thurrock is ambient in curtainsiders as far as I know.
Last time I enquired about working at Thurrock, I got to find out via a fancy seminar “TRG recruitment” event that you are obliged to join the umbrella scheme, and work as a contractor.
There are no actual full time jobs there, and refusing to sign up to the umbrella outfit made sure the only work I ever got offered was at Snodland instead, where I can get shifts on PAYE basis via the agency I work PAYE for. I don’t want anything to do with TRG now, seeing as they are seemingly incapable of speaking to me without running me some line of bullcrap that I’m supposed to grab with both hands to fit their ethic of “there’s one born every minute”…
The Thurrock drivers I meet during snodland run-outs though seem more laid back than the other snodland drivers. Perhaps that means the work is easier?
I’m not intending to work at tescos for the time being though, since they stood me up for a sunday shift I’d turned up to a few weeks back.
I’m sick of their policy of not “cementing” you into the shift slot until 24 hours beforehand.
Too bad if you got booked at the 48 hour mark essentially… You have NOT got the shift written in stone unless you accept these “final day” bookings they make.
A bit difficult for someone like me who may well be out all day saturday (rest day) and therefore really needs to get the sunday given shift in place on the friday…
I don’t have this problem at other non-tescos depots.
Oh right, so your not working directly for tesco, the advert i seen was http://www.trglogistics.co.uk/jobs/essex/hgv-1/hgv-1-driver/276/ which says you get a fixed rota, I wouldnt do it otherwise as the mrs does causal work so i would need to know what days im working, so how does anyone get to work for tescos directly or dont they ?

you might find the cement shifts are because that the planners in the traffic office are useless and incompetent, and its easier for them to play with drivers nearer to the shift time…it worked that way for Belfast Tosco when you can almost guarantee that 3 out of 4 Tuesday shifts will be cancelled on Tuesday morning if not shortly beforehand.id often wonder as to how long the office wallahs in Tosco belfast would last in a proper haulage traffic office as when you watch them operate,it beggars belief as to just how inept they are.
