got an assesment at livingston tesco tomorrow, any body know whats involved and how long the drive takes.and what are they like to work for,its with monarch agency.
This is a question that has been asked a lot on here. My info is very much out of date now but i doubt if much has changed.
A very nice place to work, assesment should just be a routine 30min jobby, nothing to worry about long as you can drive and reverse.
The one very annoying thing about this place unless it has changed is that agency bods are treated by the planners as second class citizens. ie You go up to the desk to get a run, get given Huntly shop, only for a perm driver to walk in the long distance run gets took off you and given too him and then your given a Bathgate. That happens a lot.
As an indicator for you Monarch Recruitment have drivers jobs advertised in the press on a nearly permanent basis .
like Pavaroti say’s …
Mind yer PPE gear …
And just go in and show them you can drive the truck in a safe and efficient manner… Last’s around 30 mins driving round the yard and then they take you out onto the main road maybe down as far as the local Bathgate store but not usually as far as that …
It is annoying when you get given a good distance run only for a full timer to stroll in and get it taken off you…
■■■■ easy place to work really… but some real daft o’clock starts…
Like the rest have said just give them a competent drive and things will be fine,
It took them 3 years to give me the “mandatory” test !
Everytime they asked have I been I would tell me they would do it later after run but never did !!!
Also like the others have said the full time staff just taking your long run and you getting the local runs was a pain . On the plus side a lot of the stores I found preferred getting the ayg drivers as they where more helpfull
cheers for the info guys
2 years ago it involved a full 100 question DSA test on all sorts of things including first aid, livestock transportation and stuff like that
then out to your unit to check it over and do an eyesight test
hook up to a trailer and do checks
bit of manoeuvring in the yard with both good side and blindside reversing
out on the road to complete a delivery (i got coatbridge which is a blindside)
back to tip the empties, drop the trailer and park the unit
total time is around 4 hours but you may get offered a shift then and there if you pass

So did you pass yourself Richie? And was it worth while? Did you get much work off them?
