I call the Tesco RDC in Livingston the polish peninsular. Dual language signs says it all
Snodland is run by Wincanski on behalf of Tescos.
Dagenham is run by TRG, Doncaster by Stobarts, Didcot by Nobbys as far as I am aware.
The opening of Dagenham has created a number of 40+ hours “rolling agency contracts”, but no actual full time drivers jobs where they work for Tescos rather than TRG.
I’ve been working at Snodland for a while, and I’ve yet to see a Tescos full time driver - they are all agency like moi, or wincanton drivers there.
The indoor staff are a mixture of Russian-Speakers rather than Polish, judging by the Cyrillic graffiti in the toilets…
“Now wash your hands” in Ukranski dialect of Russian gives itself away as well.
Tescos can say therefore that "We employ no immigrants whatsoever! - which is true, as they don’t seem to have employed anyone else either, i.e. no full time dricers job has been filled for years!
I dunno about indoor people though.
Its not just tescos, all these big rdc are the same. Take morrisons sittinbourne for example.when they were building it they were told they had to employ the local population, so they purchased a large number of houses on the new estate and rented them out to the polish etc, workforce now right on their doorstep and walking distance. A lot of drivers went to morrisons with lots of promises which turned out to be a load of twaddle and soon came back asking for their jobs.
It isn’t Tesco in trouble , Shadow Immigration Wally for Labour Chris Bryant has just spoken on Sky News promising the earth regarding Immigration indicating as others
have how terrified our so called ‘Establishment’ are about the rise, the threat from UKIP. Certainly will vote for UKIP next occasion, time some had a good kicking, just
hope Nigel Farage is up to the job doubt he can be any worse than we have and have had.
was talking to warehouse staff in Snoodland.they said from last years main agency Frontline.they pay to staff not bab.just little bid less ,what pay good agency for drivers early or later Snoodland,Didcot and Hincley will be shut down.where will be new place we don t know.and new depo will be somewhere ,may be 5 mile away, may by 30.for people who have family ,mortgate some problem to relocation, yes.Eastern Europian rent house,so less problem.Harlow.people not happy to travel to work some distance, but in Uk thousands and thousand people travel to work 20-30 mile one way every day.,and get money much less what pay TEsco at Dagengham .When Tesco or another company want build new DC near town -not every city council will be approved ,and local people blame who bloody lorry again
.so anyway for company much more cheap, buy land and build somewhere away from town, city.
if British people come to Staffline office ,i think he get job if he want work and he can do perfomance.yes don t think who all Eastern Europian people workoholick, hardworkers.as well in Poland ,Latvia ,Lithuania to many layzi people.just people who come to anothers country mainly not soft ,milk people.same when Scottish come to Midlands found job ,he found work, don t cray every day.people who make migration more strong.warehose job not hard but not easy.i see situation when job centre sent people to agency ,agency give him job but he after 4 hours near died ,and after 2-3 day he not back to work.Happy day to all
AND JUST WAIT NEWS -WHEN TESCO GIVE NOTICE WHO NEW DEPO WILL BE AT… ,BUT DIDCOT ,HINCLEY SHUT DOWN. i can t confirm but ready heard who next years start buil some Depo in Northamptonshire, wchick cover Hicley or Didcot.
No they won’t get offered a job before the many polish/Lithuanians in front if them, British people are 2nd class citizens in their own country=don’t talk ■■■■ …!

Dagenham is not run by TRG it’s Tesco.
Tesco has it’s own drivers + trg + about 62 ex harlow drivers.
Trg are on a lower wage than tesco
Ex harlow are on their old contract for 2 yrs.
I enquired about a job at Dagenham. I was told to apply to TRG.
There are NO NEW TESCOS JOBS at Dagenham - The tescos full timers there have been shipped in from the other offices, NOT MADE UP FROM SCRATCH.
Tescos own the building. THe work to newbies has been totally subcontracted out, so unless there were immigrants on tescos full time staff from some time back that have since moved in from another depot, all the immigrants working there are working via agencies, be they PAYE ones like mine, or umbrella ones like TRG.
Snodland has been running since the late 80’s. I keep hearing talk of it shutting in 2 years, but I’ve brushed it off as “just another RDC rumour to shake the tree, and get some bods to transfer to places like Dagenham on an inferior contract.”
Think about it: If Snodland actually DID close, and the full timers (which I never seem to see!) don’t transfer, then they’ll be entitled to a big payoff similar to the Royal Mail MTSF agreement.
An inferior contract offered at a new depot means your old job is redundant, so such people would be better off pumping up their average for the next 2 years, and bumping up their redundancy payment, eg go onto nights for the last two years of their current contract.
Arbitrarily cutting staff pay when the firm is making money is THEFT, and can’t end well for those firms who participate in it just in the name of making that extra buck all the time.
With the social power of being a wealthy major employer comes the social responsibility of “not taking the ■■■■” out of country, workforce, and even the government who probably didn’t authorise them to go that far in the spirit of their “friendly for business” prompts.

Why would there be tesco full timers at a wincanton run depot?

You must of applied to late when the tesco places was all filled.

That’s strange then because i am one of the new ones.
Along with about 150 others. and that’s not including the transport office staff
We only had about 62 from harlow and not all them are staying + office staff from harlow.
Trg are still taking on tesco are not the places are filled.
THe work to newbies has been totally subcontracted out,
Wrong.

One of the trailers at Reading had the advert for recruiting drivers at Dagenham on it, I only noticed when some bloke chased me down the road trying to get in front of me and slow me down so he could ask if they were still looking for drivers
I thought it was a mad man trying to run me off the road at first
He must of been going slow if he had to chase you.
Ok, so why did they lie to me then? If what you said is true, then they should just say “Sorry bud, all vacancies have been filled, but there’s still agency recruitment going on at TRG”.
I enquired in January btw. Was told “The jobs are all at TRG who are handling the entire recruitment process”…
What were you doing before getting your actual TESCO full time contract btw on full terms and conditions, decent historic/legacy overtime rates, etc etc.?
…Or did you sign up for one of the so-called new inferior contract things which can have you out the door at the drop of a hat? - Ie the “full time hours” is your commitment to them, not their commitment to you?
January that was early so can’t answer that i didn’t apply to early may, and started may 27th.
Found this Tesco cartoon amusing & disturbing at the same time…
independent.co.uk/voices/the … on=gallery
Reminds me of the original V series where the Lizards eat the humans, used to be behind the sofa watching in our gaff!
Recall a few years ago talking to one of the wharehouse blokes in Tesco Weybridge , he was hacked off because some of the staff were having redundancy meetings in one room while down the corridor they were holding inductions for Polish agency staff !!
That’s what you get with the demise of union power on the shop floor.
