Should the revolution come comrade GERM, consider who you are up against. One the one side we have people who stood up against an unwanted regime for many years with a threat of invasion at any time. Endured years of marshall law and food shortages. Defied the ruling communist govenment at every corner at great risk, as Stalin said " too try to get Poland to accept communism would be like trying to saddle a cow". thus could only be done with force. These are people who under gun fire built a church in Nowa Huta.
On the other side we have the British, who moan about everything and then do bugger all. Britian went to war because of Poland, then gave it to the Russians and my wife and the generation before her will adhere to the pain and suffering that caused.
What this has to do with Tesco I have no idea, apart from Tesco have drivers in Poland, so sorry about this post, its just some people have no idea about the bigger picture.
The British drivers do not stick together, its a sad fact, so take a look at the Poles, they stuck together and got rid of a far bigger foe.
Come the revolution⦠I do not fancy your chances.
Andy
As a person that is new to the industry and wasnt alive in the good old days of strikes that have been mentioned, I am a little concerned about this thing about crossing a picket line.
I have bills to pay and mouths to feed and wouldnt be able to afford to take the risk of telling my employer that I am not going into that depot if he ordered me to.
So that would leave me with a dilema, I dont want to cross the line and upset the other drivers, but at the end of the day I need to pay my bills.
Cross the lines sod em, a Tesco driver would not think twice about it, look after no1 and devil take the hindmost thatās what i say , sack em all, deport them to Poland, they are short of drivers i hear.

I like it.
as i have said previously, leopards never change there spots.if you are looking for a scab phone a lorry driver.the mentality of drivers never fails to amaze me.they all complain about poor working conditions.poor wages etec.etc.then at the first opportunity stab someone in the back who has the guts to do something about it.
you just couldnt make it up.
Well I never said that I would cross the line, was just adding my thoughts, what about those of us who are not in the fortunate situation to be able to turn down work?

You are right in what you are saying, but, the Tesco drivers are only striking for there own pay and conditions. They could not give a toss about the drivers stuck in their own DC for hours on end, locked out of thier cabs and home and treated like ā ā ā ā ā ā
If all the supplying drivers went on strike do you think Tescos own drivers would walk out in support. I donāt think they would, more likely that they would be back loading more goods there by keeping the selfs full and getting paid extra for it.
Of all the union busting things Thatcher tried the most successful was selling the council houses to people. Lot harder for someone to stand by their ābrotherā when they have a mortgage to pay.

anyway dave half an ear who sits behind the desk who is about the only one who can dish the work out properly ,well angela is good as well she has got the biggest balls i ever seen and she takes no crap,.
It was Dave half an ear who tried to force me to go back out for another run after i did 9.5 hours work, it was him that told me agency guys are contracted for 11 hours. Although the only time iāve been paid 11 hours was when i worked it. Needless to say i went home.
It was Angela who told me when i turned up at 11am like i was booked for that my start time had been changed to 13.00 hours and i could sit there for two hours waiting with no pay. Again, i went home and didnāt come back that day.
It was Angela who was not going to pay me a days pay because i only done one store (Chester), until Dave half ear confirmed that i had come back to the desk and had been in the waiting room waiting for another run and he forgot about me. He apologised and i got my days pay.
They all have their own targets and they all do as suits themselves to get them done. It makes me smile when i see their own guys say 'no iāve done enough iām off see ya " !!! I quite like the idea of contracted hours as opposed to coming in when we tell you and working for as long as we tell you.
Iām glad I have only just over 4 yrs to retiral. I will be glad to get out of this industry that is now polluted with those who refer to fat union bosses. They, of course, dont belong to a union. Their boss gives them a big shiny truck, lots of hours at low pay so they can earn enough to go to truckfest in their own time with all the bolt on lights they paid for out of their long hours pay! They also need to work these long hours to pay their speeding fines so the boss can get his load delivered āFAST!ā
They think anyone who drives at the speed limit is a '[zb]
To respect men on strike to protect their conditions is alien to these people, they dont have any conditions, therefore, no-one else should either!
The pages of this site, and others, not to mention drivers magazines, are full of those who whine when they get flashed by a speed camera, who complain if they are about to lose their licence. Good riddance to them, I say!
Here is a piece of philosophy from an old driver, āThe work is hard, the pay is small. So take your time and [zb] them all!ā

Are they any better than a road full of embittered, bigoted, protectionest, we know best and weāre not sharing drivers then. The āold boysā and there āthis is the way itās done and only this wayā attitude. The āold boysā who messed up log books and gave the rest of us tachos Or the āold boysā who messed up speeding and gave us ālimitersā
Perhaps the old boys who drove around in unsafe heaps in an Iām alright jack coat , Who gave us VOSA.
No offence to the good lads who went before us but really no thanks to the bad uns
talking rubbish again
For your information, itās because drivers do their (or the bosses) thing that drivers are the poorer for it.
So the unions have done nothing for the driver? So, who has?
Not people like you, thatās for sure!

Who does something for the driverā ā ?
Well being a driver I would have to say ME
I donāt do crap jobs for crap money. I donāt do shiney trucks and spotlights. I do money and happiness.
If a job changes or money drops I get off my arse and go somewhere else. I donāt sit in RDCs and Truckstops whining to anyone in earshot about my plight nor do I rely on OTHERs to sort MY problems. I have always had good health and sickness insurance and a good pension (again by my own doing).
I am good at what I do so I wonāt be messed around. I donāt need a group of āold boysā covering me as I got myself well covered thanks
Oh yeah and the Unions were the same ones who errm looked after there own and stopped anybody not āone of the boysā getting in on the better jobs
What next ā ā Public funding to keep the Tesco boys in the lazy lifestyle they wish to keepā¦not on my tax money sunshine

 bob on montana man couldnt agree more ,i happen to work for tesco, after spending some time at dhl /exel,i dont have a truck that looks like a pakistan taxi, nor do i bolt lights bars on any lorry i have drove if there had been any extra lights what ever, they were on the thing when i got it ,i drive trucks for the money.if the tspt industry was not polluted by union people who have not done anything for normal wagon drivers maybe the money would be better than the cleaners wages that are offered and certainly better than what an 18 year girl can get flippin burgers at mcdonalds.and while im on me high horse why arnt the unions doing something about nights out the pittance you get and the non existent showers food and parkin areas,i would rather have hot needles stuck in my arse than kip out in a wagon i done me share but no way now.
tesco is not transport its a shop boys job there is nothing that cant be done by any competent driver, its not hire and reward if it was we would all be out of a job,and the fact that stobbies irlams are doing it shows there is nothing to it,the unions messed that job up like they did every where else,
if there is a picket line i will be thru it ,tesco men would ignore your fate if you were on a strike they dont say anything when you got no access to clean toilets showers food and no where to park when you run out of hours ,you dont see the union rep complaining to the management about anything to do with non tesco drivers, load of bull they bit the hand that fed them so you will have to go on stobart money 7.20 on days and 8.20 on nights
you say the unions do nothing for you.perhaps its because you havnt the guts to stand up and be counted if the union called you out on strike .a union is only has strong as its members ,need i say more.train drivers get £35,000 a year for a 35hr week why?because they have the guts to back there union.

Very true.
My mate works for First Trains, and they wanted a £3k pay rise this year.
Management said no, so the union (on behalf of the drivers) said ā ā ā ā your rest day working and nobody will be doing any overtime.
Result - trains cancelled all over the shop
Thatās what you call a proper union. They will get their rise, Iām sure.
