Tesco doncaster carr

Pimpdaddy:
Look on the bright side people, one mans loss is another mans gain somewhere somehow, it’s all a good thing because it’s creating opportunities elsewhere that tesco didn’t provide especially for young & new drivers, when was the last time somebody got set on full time?

AFAIK the last set of guys who transfered over to Tesco & started work there, was when wincanton had it. Those guys & gals moved came from the old wincanton depot (ex sainburys) at Maltby when they lost the Grampian bacon contract. They inc Alex & Jo panks on the front desk, Andy (I ate all the pies) whos a TM in the office, and half a dozen drivers.
The takeover of the Doncaster depot has been on the cards for well over 6+ years. it was just a case of who was willing to take it on.
Because Doncaster specialises in chilled & frozen, at the time it didn`t fit ideally within any other hauliers business model, which is why the rumors where flying even back as far as when innovate shut the J29 depot, & Yerdleys took over J29. But with the Newark depot not far away, and the takeover of that depot by ES, the doncaster takeover by ES was enevitable, but its taken several years to achieve. But in that time ES have opened both the Goole and chesterfield warehouses.

Pimpdaddy:
It’s heavily manned by Agy apparently which means the work is there , look @ the £££ being offered by ADR network on their site to get bums on seats(if the jobs are real on Agy of course)

Im reliably informed ADR have royally screwed up that contract, and several agy drivers have fled the scene in frustration. Tesco at Doncaster reinstated the 6hr rule which tipped the balance pushing more agy drivers away, although Im informed ES are still paying 8hrs min.
Im getting calls nearly every day asking if Id be willing to work at either doncaster or goole

Here;s a fine example ot the kind of drivers Stobart employs at Goole so Doncaster beware!
No HGV driver in his right mind would attempt this left turn heading west off the A62 at the top of Wall Hill Dobcross Saddleworth!

This was the scene today after it obviously was unable to negotiate the sharp fork turn. Recovery teams arrived at the scene and with the help of a digger and a large tow truck it was eventually freed.
Damage was caused to a speed sign, dry stone wall, and a bollard, as well as some minor damage to the trailer.

It’s just a cynical exercise by stobarts to get the Donny guys rate down, they will only shut down transport my money is on it starting back at Donny by march, then look out hinckley,Harlow, didcot, etc

Think thats the nail ht squarely on the head.

Know they are getting desperate for agency drivers at Donny and Goole. My agency have asked if we’ll travel up there, just waiting on what they are paying us

Ye my mate is on ADR agency out of Donny,he does shift times I wouldn’t touch but gets a hefty bonus for doing em,they asked him to do a shift out of hinckley recently that’s well over a hours drive from s yorks,& I could not believe the bonus he got plus traveling time for a really early start.

I’m not sure why people are so vitriollic to Stobarts. They’re just a transport/distribution company. They have also been doing contracted Tesco deliveries (including stores) for well over 10 years, its not a new thing. If anyone is to blame for drivers losing their good jobs, with good pay and good hours then its Tescos, after all its Tescos who are letting them go. All Stobarts are doing is being asked to do the work.
Regards the driver coming unstuck in the sticks well that could happen to any of us in an unfamiliar area. Tescos did supply risk assesment for each store along with a route, they obviously aint passing it onto the driver.

They also made drivers redundant at Corby…that place has had that many take overs , i cant understand why lay drivers off… then in there tv documentry there running an academy for young drivers ! wot about older drivers with mortgages and familys to bring up that have yrs of experience , to put some young lad behind the wheel wheres the forsight in that, the program is to be taken with a pinch of ■■■■ oh sorry salt… :unamused:

Because at the end of the day Stobart are a bunch of w-nk-rs just read this article from Commercial Motor on the 24th of Seprember and you will see the kind of company your dealing with.
As regards the incident pictured above he had already passed two major turnings to Greenfield off the A62 why pick the third one down an inaccessible country lane. :exclamation:

Probably looking to the future, more drivers leaving the industry than coming in means a potential shortfall in manpower a few years from now, the shiny trucks and the TV progs would be more appealing to most of the younger generation than walking through a mudbath to a skip wagon or suchlike every morning.

Looks to me like tesco are the w-nk-rs in all this ‘mr moo’ open your eyes, don’t hate the player hate the game…!!!
No other company wants youngsters so it seems like a positive thing to me, there isnt & probably never will be a true demand for drivers, unless I’m missing the point…!?

‘… look out … didcot …’

Are Tesco still in Didcot

I’m not much of an ‘RDC spotter’ - but heard somewhere that they’d shifted out

Stobbart…love em…or hate em…theyre in business to make money, so they have everything under control, know what theyre doing, otherwise they wouldnt do it…would they !..They havnt got this far without good planning, diversification, and good old Eddie who started it , I really cant understand all the knockers, but i guess thats the thing with brits, they really dont like to see a company succeed, Who slags off TDG who are larger , than stobbie will ever be, but have lasted just as long, maybe longer.
Any company who survives a recession, and grows year after year, i take my hat off to, the company i work for is the same, buying up smaller companies, enlarging, putting them under one umbrella, albeit we are not a transport company, we are a fruit company at the core, but at least we have something to supply, and not to just transport, neverless its the same, and good job to all and sundry who are trying to survive in these difficult times.

Note: i am even doing my bit for the industry, by sunning myself over here in bulgaria, and giving an agency driver a chance to earn a few quid.

TDG no longer exist  You mean Norberts don’t you?

Fileep:
This may be harsh but they’ve partly brought this on themselves, I’ve worked out of there and drivers spinning the shift out and making over £45K a year! how long is that going to last? Don’t get me wrong I feel sorry for anyone out of work, its a shame its come to this!

That is a disgusting thing to say… What if you earned 45K a year ? how would you feel if you lost your job ? You stike me as very jealous because you don’t earn that but believe me, everybody wants to earn as much as possible and you are no exceptio so don’t tell me that if whatever company you work for paid you the same rate you wouldn’t try and defend that rate because believe me … you would.
I have been made redundant from very well paid jobs because cut throat cowboy outfits like Stobbarts came in, they then had the nerve to offer us all diving jobs for less money… I am glad to say every driver refused to work for mower money and after 6 months the contract collapsed … I hope the same thing happens at Doncaster and Stobbies gets stuffed.
Every man there should take the redundancy and tell Stpbbart to make love elsewhere. I know a few good guys working out of Doncaster and they don’t deserve this crap, I even know one guy who transfered form MK at their request, he uprooted uis entire family to do so … Poor guy.

And after my redundancy I was offered and took a job with TDG which I stuck for 2 months before telling them that the pay was not worth getting out of bed for and starting at Tesco in Kiln Farm

And … as we see here Stobbarts employs mostly idiots,

Sounds to me like an “I’m alright jack foook you” attitude with this post Pat
After all while you were pulling “big money” out of Tesco at Kiln farm! That same depot was after Middleton taken over by!!! Yes Stobarts!
Remind us all where you are now? :unamused: Are you carving up the Canadian/US industries aswell?

Totally missed the point, as per usual

It’s only another driver that has made a mistake, simples
