Telling Lies

For gods sake leave the dodgy licence alone you won’t be insured if you have a accident you will really be in the mire and your licence will be gone before you get chance to use it keep plugging away eventually something will turn up

Wise words.

Just blag it a bit, you’ll get there eventually.

I am a newly passed driver also, class 2 December 13 class 1 Feb 14, I trawl and trawl the jobsites and keep applying, the first class 1 job I got on drawbars and artics shifting bricks about tried running me bent over hours and overweight so I packed that in. I’ve been with an agency in Sittingbourne since and haven’t had a day short of work, stoats offered me full time (shi11t money) abbey tankers have offered a contract as well as swains. Just keep applying there is plenty of work out there and plenty of companies that will take new drivers (subject to an assessment) good luck

Get a decent class 2 job, where they have artics on the bank as well.

Won’t be long until someone leaves unexpectedly, or rings in sick.

Mad September when it goes daft up until xmas you will find they don’t care and you will get something then and get a foot in the door. Hermes, TNT, UK mail etc can’t get enough drivers and this is forecast to be the worst year with CPC deadline in September.

A guy advised me last year to say I had been shunting as you don’t need a class 1 for that, driving on private land. I did ont have to use it in the end because I got a start and kept busy up until Jan 2014 (passed test 2nd August 2013). Don’t know if it would work as it is the insurance clause that does it.

As Winseer says this whole 2 year experince lark will be out the window come September if not already.
I was out the game for almost 10 years and the agency put me to work the next weekend after I had a chat with them (albeit with a little hint of where to say I’d been assesed + I’d been on manual tachos of course )

Lying is not needed now IMO (oh alright maybe a little white one) and will get you into more trouble if ■■■■■ go skyward.

I am already seeing a bit of that with local agencies now. Some have dropped it to 12 months experience and some are saying new passes accepted subject to assessment. Some are also now offering training on their equipment if needed.

The driver shortage is not just going to revolve around cpc though, but the prohibitive cost (for many) of HGV or PSV training combined with many older drivers retiring now and for good measure DVSA seeing vocational drivers as a wealth providing cash cow.

dafpower:
Sorry to double post but I must add don’t lie it doesn’t work you get found out and thought if as a [zb] people have a higher opinion of those that just own up or do things honestly

No they won’t they will think you are a soft ■■■■■■■■
They will lie to you to gain advantage so it’s only fair that you do the same.

I never got found out, if i was honest i’d still be on jobseekers allowance or been caught working, BS is like grease things slide easier when you apply it.

Why aren’t you telling them about all the years going with your Old Man? And the fact you helped him out so much just after you passed your test? :bulb:

A bit of topspin is the way to go here but…

…On no account lie about your licence/pass date. It could well get you into the ultimate in tramping, all at the Queen’s expense.

Abbey would be my choice if you decide to move. Clean work.

Plugster:
Stobarts will snap you up m8 if you live anywhere near there depots.

haha tried them got the cursory not accepted text try again in 3 months, i live about 12 miles from there widnes depot, being 35 i dont if that played a part as ive heard they like them young :open_mouth: so they can mould them into the eddie ways

I’m 35 and just got a job offer yesterday at stobarts Appleton. Chin up fella

I know Aldi in Scotland have taken drivers straight onto Class 1 without any experience.

Plugster:
My question is, is there any senario where a HGV driver has held his license for longer than the date that is shown on the back of the card, IE issue date says mar 2014 but he has held it longer, so maybe the driver had his license revoked many years ago and had to take a re-test, or maybe he passed his test in another country and and moved back to the UK in MAR 2014.

Honesty & hard work get you nowhere in life, #fact:exclamation:

Plugster:
yeah im willing to travel to work, and id tramp 2, not my ideal job doing tramping as ive got kids but needs must and id save in fuel + the night out money

Kiss good buy to nights at home during the week, hope you have an understanding partner,
To get anywhere in this industry you have to put the time and hard work in, even more so when you a newbe,

I been trucking for 12 years now, lost 1 wife and a few girlfriends that all basically could not cope me being away, now I have taken back seat and only work a few days a week as and when

Don’t listen to the bs in the waiting rooms ( you can smell it a mile off ) Joe blogs says I earn 4k a week ect ect, if you want to earn the money you need to work for it, long days early starts nights out, not getting home because time run out, (many a time not got home because time run out due to accidents on road or some idiot I remember in Bristol wanting to jump off a bridge and they closed motorway all bloody day, didn’t get back home that weekend…

Good luck in finding work, I just wish when people want to join this apparently great business, the tell you from the start how bloody hard it can be

Give Huntapac a shout at Tarleton …

Just lie about your experience and see what you can get away with. What’s the worst that can happen?

Apologies for the quote , but your right,
Lets face it , 99.9% bull-sht a little bit to a prospective new employer to sell themselves and gain a foot in the door.
To tell full out blatant lies is dumb ■■■ , you will get sussed and quickly.
.
As for what`s the worst ? - You get found out   simples. even worse ? - loss of job, but that infrequently happens depending on circumstances , people just get to know you bulled it and move on and treat it for what its worth.
.
If you are going to bull-sht it , keep it fairly close to the truth, then once in - head down and crack on and keep shtump ,

  • your work colleagues will suss you out soon enough. :sunglasses:
    .
Eyes and ears open and ask the odd question if need be for confirmation.
