where do you get the Idea you are a Trucker? You are only a driver, Real Truck Drivers Know how to load Sheet and Rope Loads, Not sit back and a Forklift do the work. You should come out to Australia NO log books Three or Four 40ft Trailers pulling 100 tons. And drive on unmade roads for a thousand miles. Some times not even seeing another truck that’s TRUCKING.

That’s not trucking at all, driving in a straight line for 1000s of miles with about a billion acres of space when you get to the other end. Do you even have a reverse gear??
Put an Aussie in an artic on a pallet network over hear and he will struggle like ■■■■
I hate this “you ain’t a real driver unless you can fiddle a log book whilst roping and sheeting it to a magnet on the way to the Middle East in a day cab” ■■■■■■■■. It’s petty and patronising.

+1
can’t see them doing too many blind side reverses onto bays with 3 inch to swing the front round and 3 cars blasting horns to add to the fun
“Joseph Rice and Sons closes its doors - fleet to be auctioned off. 04 March 2011”
How-ever I was under the impression that his son " Nigel " had started up separatly
therefor, could Nigel Rice now operating out of Swinemoor Industrial Estate, Beverley,
be infact [one in the same ] Son of Joseph Rice ( of Joseph Rice-& Sons Gloucester )
Or just conincidence.

Ps The present livery of “Nigel”'s trucks is very simular to the pre 1990’s livery of Joseph Rice-& Sons - Gloucester
Nigel Rice has been operating in Beverley for as long as I can remember which would be the early 90s at a guess and could have been going for a long while before that.

The Nigel Rice (of quedeley, nr Gloucester) I knew personally back in the 1960/70’s
( was 1 of the two “sons” in the old company & now defucted “Joseph Rice-& Sons of Gloucester” )
As for “Nigel Rice, of Gloucester”
He would have be old enought in 1976 to have broken off from his fathers company
and founded a new company in Beverley ( maybe he married and moved up there, etc. )
What Im trying to discover is wether Nigel Rice Gloucester & Nigel Rice Beverley, are one in the same person.
Sorry for Hi-Jacking the tread…

PS: Sadly my Father who could instantly answer my question, pased away in 2004 !
valtaydor I don’t know what part of Australia you drive in, but we haven’t used 40 foot trailers for over 20 years. If you turned up with one they wouldn’t load it as it would be to short. The only way you can drive with out a log book is to stay with in 50 k’s of your base, and as for driving for days with out seeing another truck ■■? There are very few trucks that only drive on unsealed roads, and most of them are either on private stations, or haul trucks running in the mines. 100 tons is a bit light I wish I could get away with that.
