TDS Morgan Overland

dessert driver:
Does anyone know if there was any conection between C and B and Morgans or did they just use the same tilt makers. Regards Keith

Hi all; Concerning the photo of the Fiat with C&B tilt; I reckon it was an “ex” C&B trailer.

What I want to know is what does the phrase writen on the front translate to? “WIR TRAGEN EUERE BURDE”. One for you there Ian.

Evening fellas, I’m in need of a bit of help here. Having seen the distinctive colours of these motors has jogged my memory back to a time which was very much lost and forgotten.

As a typical truck mad kid, aged 9 (1980), I used to ride with a family friend who I’m sure dud a stint with Morgans, I may be totally wrong but I’m sure that I spent a few day trips with him in an old ERF with washing machine (Hotpoint) drums roped to a flat bed and I remember being scared stiff that they were going to topple at every corner because they loooked as though they were stacked perilously high compared with my child like statue!!!

Are any of these details remotely accurate or have I just mixed a load of separate events into the one memory? Cheers for any assistance with clearing this up.

Hi there

Direct translation of WIR TRAGEN EUERE BURDE to english is “WE TAKE YOUR BURDEN”.
Thanks to Google for this.

it is the same company they were workin for hotpoint for years still do now.the drums went to cardiff on nights went with my dad a few times

Cheers markrhyl for confirming a long lost memory. Spent a bit of time with my eyes closed over the past couple of days (not whilst driving), a i’m now starting to remember a few more details such as their yard and a couple of drivers faces, unfortunately i’m struggling with names as it was a nearly 30 years ago. I remember loving the amount of trucks they had about the yard and the different makes, what sort of vehicle numbers did they have at that time (1980) and other the ERF’s and Transcons, am i right in thinking that they had a Scammell Crusader as well? It’s a shame that there aren’t a few more pics of their yard and vehicles - would be nice to refresh the image in my mind’s eye if you know what i mean.

I’m too lazy to check the web for dates, but i’m sure it was on one of those trips in the old ERF with washing machine drums, that i first heard the song ‘Africa’ by TOTO, perhaps that was when it was first released - could barely hear it over the engine noise!!! Funny how little details start to come back to you. cheers.

Hiya…did,nt Malcom Harrison get hold of the BRS Marathons and sell them on. I think there was about 15 maybe 20 of them
John

i took 3 of the marathons to felixtowe for malcolm harrison. three of us went with first lot and it was a bit of a p/r exercise for malcolm … we were filmed all the way to felixtowe by don mitchell hanging out the passenger side of his b m w .it was being driven by some young lad and was all over the place, so when it came to returning home we made mitchell drive. cannot remember the year, but i think i was working for j t between trips, nice bit of cash in hand for the pub.they were all ex b r s we took 5 trailers as well and a brand new thorneycroft fire engine. the star of the show , third trip someone took a brand new bentley. it had all gold fittings and was for some saudi prince. great times.
