Contacted a mate who’s Dug out some more photo’s to keep the thread running, presume this is the right place. I’d be intrested if anyone can shed any light on the auto coupling and if it was around for long

Spotted by Stanfield today were these two delivering too Robert Mc Brides in Middleton Manchester.
Redway’s Scania with “Caustic” and the Lynch Volvo tipping “Hypocloride”.
Volvo F7 8 wheeler ridged belonging to J L Townson Tankers ltd of Oldham & Morecambe.This vehicle used to deliver 2 load a day of Nitric Acid from ICI Heysham to ICI Clitheroe 7 days a week during the 70s/80s until ICI Heysham closed down in 1986.
Two more big Tanker companys what have long gone.Used to see them regular on the roads during the 60s&70s

Buckleys,Warrington are a blast from the past.Their depot was on Howley Lane (I think) just off the A57.I used to fill up there in the 70s.Didn’t they disappear into TDG or some other faceless conglomeration?

Yes I remember Bill Gittens very well indeed from Tommy Lambs days he used to live in the flats at abbey hey then,did mainly sand deliveries from over cheshire way into the builders merchants around M/chester is he still around? and I also remember you from there as well ( Nickname Freddie Garrity) am I right? you should also remember my dad from there as well,Are you still with ST on tanks.Pete Mellor said he would be over for a visit but missed him due to being in hospital and on sick for last 5 month but I still keep in contact with him through email,plus Mike & Trevor at Albion/Brentag.Nice to hear from you.

Hi Layby Larry.The photo you have posted of the Imperial motor outside the building with the pillers was that taken when they had a promotion day after they had the management buyout at the same time has Sadler Tankers around 1989/90.
