Been offered a position with a firm doing waste collection on a tanker so assuming going to be sewage and waste liquids, I’m a newbie when it comes to class 1 so looking to get any type of experience I can just wondering if anyone has any experience with this type of work what it’s like? Hours? Night outs etc?
Any info appreciated
Be prepared to smell bad things most of the day…yuk…
Use to it been on the bins and food waste with council
you need to be trained on the job by competant person till you fully understand the way the tank works , it will be a vacuum tank ,it will ■■■■ up the product and blow/pump it out at point of delivery,if your not properly trained you could seriously injure yourself.the rest of the job can only be answerd by the company ,local or distance work be it all week or 2 nights per week etc ,the smell is something you get used to ,as for pay etc sorry can’t help

Did a similar job on class 2 only though…
To sum it up, ‘you’re left alone’ to get on with it. Which I liked.
depends were you load from the rest is what you make it
I did a spell on tankers ADR and non ADR for Freddie Grant of Balindaloch and what I found hard to get used to was the surging backwards and forwards of the commodity carried took some getting used to, benefit of the job was no hand balling.
What’s the driving aspect of it like? What sort of places are youoadung unloading from? Is there likely to be a lot of awkward reversing etc?
it doesn’t matter does it ,wether theres loads of room or it’s as tight as a glass blowers ar*e ,if it fits in you can get it in
