Just read some threads on driving assessments and it got me thinking. I’ve had 2 assessments a while back for bitumen, and air products. Fantastic drives according to each assessor. Good interviews too, but didn’t get the jobs due to lack of tanker experience.
What do you have to do to get a tanker job??
I mean they could see from my pre_sent CV that I was a newbie so why bother with assessment and interview if experience was a problem ffs!

it might be that they’re quite happy to train someone up, but if someone else applies that did a fantastic drive, had good interview and had done xyz on tanks, or even just x, who would you take on?
i got my start on tanks working for a firm that had several contracts, one of which was tanks. after a year or so i was trained up on tanks!
I was quite lucky, I applied for a tanker job with no experience, when I got the job I found out it was because I was the only applicant with a full ADR. I wish you luck in your quest for a job on a tanker, now I’ve got a taste for it I don’t think I could drive anything else and enjoy it as much!
