I’ve been watching them reverse, how do they get to be so good at it? Even blind siding.
Just straight answers please.
There is not so much trailer blocking the view in the mirror and you get a much clearer view of where the wheels are for instance with a tanker. I only ever did one trip with a box trailer years ago and I can remember now that I found it different.
- Tonners on farms gets you good. Milk with rear steer even easier

I’ve seen some pretty terrible tanker drivers trying to reverse but it is easier in a tanker.
You can either reverse or you can’t. I drive a tanker, although longer and with a longer tractor than anything in the UK and to some extent what some here say about not so much trailer is right … if you are in a day cab with rear windows. My cab not only has no rear windows but has a large sleeper behind, so using the mirrors is a must, then it is no different to a box trailer, in fact on odd occasions I have hauled one of our few van trailers and it made no difference. I have been driving in the UK and USA for 42 years and never had a problem reversing on either side. It doesn’t mean that if you have difficulty you are not good it it, it means you are careful and there is no shame in that.
